When I was growing up, NO ONE neutered male dogs. That's what fences are for: to keep your dog from roaming!

I likely would never have neutered Ranger, whom I adopted at the age of 3, if he hadn't developed an extremely bad case of prostatitis. The vet said he had the prostate of a 11 or 12 year old dog, and he was only 4 at the time!

Anyway, had him done. He went through one night of very serious pain because his scrotum swelled up, but after that, he was fine. He did have a bit of dribbling for awhile until the prostate shrank back to normal size, but the drug propanol (used for incontinence in bitches) helped control it.

If I ever have to neuter a fully mature dog again, I'll have the vet remove the scrotum as well. I didn't realize it would swell like that and cause the dog so much misery.

I respect those of you that want to support Neutering and spaying

BUT my reply was and is like my DAD who died before I was born but he left my brothers plenty of good advice they passed on

In all of life and all of the universe, people who do wrong to make it legit for me or you to take up their cross and do as they do

I cannot help it if 20,0000 people let their dogs litter the earth with unwanted pups or dogs..

WHO taught them the right way to LIVE??? WHO?   NOT MY PARRENTS... nor yours maybe but I cannot accept   doing things to any animals body or humans body because they are NOT responsible FOR WHAT THEY DO TO MAKE THE WRONG RIGHT.

SORRY BUT  two wrongs do not make a RIGHT>

I do not believe it is right unless the dog has cancer  or is in a poor health conditon because of a reproductive situation which is  far and few between

My home has been blessed with hundreds of dogs in my lifetime none of which were spayed or neutered.  NO accidents, and I maintain a very picky clean well decorated home with things that cannot be broken or peed on.

I have lived a very peaceful blessed life with as many as 17 gsd at one time all under commands and obedience and never had an OOPS litter.

MY life has been blessed with very few VET bills. I have three vets who I love and who are so knowledgeable it is a thrill to report to them of the great dogs I raised and sold to others..

I had a gynocologist tell me one month after I got married...DO NOT LET ANY DR.  sell you birth control pills ...they are mega dangerous and I will not let my family take them...HE was top gyno of a huge number of drs. in his area..well loved and the hospital had a wing named after him..I thank the day he told me that...

Today so many horrible stories of women that took them and hormones by the years full and then the medical problems surmounted to ones now proven to have caused all the suffering they all went thru..
MY Dr. told me   RUN  do not take pills.  If our maker put it there, leave it...

My family is healthy as it comes and my daughter and her hubby hold the same values..SOME drs negate all this but I will say....money  money and  Money is the root of all evil...in many venues not only dogs , women and kids. Somewhere we have to get back to the way we ate and how we were intended to live...by the earth and its fullness there in..

If you are sick and need surgery, ok...if your pet is ill and needs this done...that is different in all rehlms..but to just do it for your comfort and your convience  NO NO NO> NINE >< NINE>

Health is most important and finding out how to eat is the secret to most alll our problems from many hundreds of years back..
We want instant insanity so we got it...in packaged foods, fast foods, fast fixes in all our ways we live. I refuse to let my dogs get    FAST hooked>

EAT YARD EGGS...KEEP SUGAR TO THE MINIMUM...TAKE WHEAT OUT OF YOUR DOGS DIET AND YOURS.

READ     WHEAT BELLIES   a book by Dr. William Davis....google it

Of course it is an individual choice but if the dog has HD, it is even more reason to keep him intact. He needs that testosterone to keep his muscles strong so the muscles can help compensate for the malformed hip joint.

I believe neutering (males and females) causes serious joint issues in medium and large dogs.

Never had a problem keeping intact males and females at the same time.

I am sure the neutering part has or had NOTHING to do with the HD...the vet never said it did ..she just popped out with you also need to neuter him., and gave no reason until the lady called back the next day and the email I posted was the reply.

Then in the next breath she said    we need to perform surgery on the bad hip and the other one we will watch with Glucosamine and steroids shots.
The reason so many women get  Osteo in early years and mega muscle and joint problems is some Dr TALKED  them into pills for a sneeze and then performed a hysterectomy years ago..That has changed now today. You need your harmones and your testosteron for you body to absorb all its nutrients ..If not they go in the toilet and you get left crippled.

In the next breath , she wanted to set it up...But that did not occur.

Yesterday this patient called to ask how much for the bottle of Glucosamine ?? Give you three guesses how much for a bottle of GD/chondriton was at the vets office.

DO you have a $100.00 bill?

I told her to go to Sams and get their brand and follow the dosage for an adult .

ALso  www.revivalanimal.com    MY other vet in Edom laughs every time a vet tells someone with a 3 month old pup to buy a 80.00 bottle of GC/chondr. for its hips...at that young...

He said send them to me , I will sell them the Las Vegas Grand for pennies.
