Holy f&*^. Holy living f&^*.

Those are perfectly fine hips. You can take it to the bank that the dog will never need a hip replacement surgery,  and also that my 4yr old child could tell you the same. Not sure how this person can call themselves any sort of authority on joints with those xrays and that opinion. Absolutely terrifying. How many dogs have had needless surgery or been killed because this wacko told their owners there was something wrong with them. Infuriates me.

I agree with Blitzen and Jenni! There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that this dog needs surgery. I would be finding myself a new vet and telling the old one to stick it where the sun dont shine. Comments like the one about this dog needing surgery infiriates me too.

However, if I was going for a rating with either OFA or the SV I would redo them. Not because the hips are "bad" but because the positioning is not correct.

Thanks for all the input!!!

I've had 10 dogs in the past and sometime I think vets just want to experiment.

They want to do stuff they've never done before and really don't care about the patient.

Why would you give a dog a hip replacement? Why?

One time I had a vet that was hell-bent on cropping the ears on my Doby puppy.

I could tell by her enthuasim she had never done it before.

I ran away from that woman...

I

I'll make it short.

Positioning horrible . Nothing wrong with the hips. Get a different vet.

WTF? Neither of these hips would scream replacement! That's crazy. I don't know about patellas and how to read them, but I'd say these would pass OFA, one is really nice. Especially being 4.

Your vet is not a good vet. Hips passing for breeding with better position first xray they will pass. Man really bad vet or unethical or both. I have to have concern and agree with Jenn people flip out when they hear this believe what the vet says. Hopefully a ortho would stop a surgery . Patellas do look little odd on a side view but I am no expert at them never have seen this view just dont look smooth. But still surgery should be done after conservative means fail IMO.
