The field isn't bad...unless it's been raining!

Work on general manners with the leash and it will be fine.

Midgie1007, I can't remember if it had been raining last year or not, but I DO remember "feeling the burn" LOL I haven't been on a bike
since the spring trial last year, so this year will be interesting too :)

When we did our ADs, it was dry...one of the previous trials it had rained or snowed all day, then rained while they were riding it.  Turned into a mud bog quick!

I didn't train my dog for her BH using a bike. I ran her next to or behind the golf cart now and then, but usually walked and jogged a little with her. She is OB trained, so when it was time to be gaited next to the bike for her AD she was told to fuss and that was it, she ran next to the bike without any problem. Most dogs in decent condition can pass the AD since they get rest stops for water and to have the judge check their feet. I did use Musher's Secret for a few months ahead of the trial so her pads were toughened by then.

You don´t need to ride a bycicle, you are allowed to jog, too....Teeth Smile

Susie,
Is that a rule change?  I remember doing a AD under Guenther Mueller and a friend wanted to run with his dog and was told "NO."  My friend was a Marathon runner and was serious about running with the dog.  This was back in the late '90's, perhaps the rules have changed to allow runners and bicyclists?

If the AD were 1/4 mile long I may have made it jogging...or....maybe not  Teeth Smile

The rules still say "bicycle", but it´s about the dog, not about the ability of the dog to run beneath the bicycle  - some/not all judges allowed owners to jog, but it´s difficult - it´s too fast for jogging ( at least for me )...
