But by far one of the most devoted breed's I have ever known.
I would never own another as they are a lawsuite waiting to happen.

Some years back the Fila mixes were the dogs involved in killing that young woman in CA. The dogs owners were the first to even been tried for murder for their known aggressive dogs behaviors. Someone else might know the name of the trails / head lines, but I forgot.
In countries like Brazil were the breed in more plentiful they are more adapted. There the middle class & well to do live on larger estates with high walls around property. They don't have social services in the counties so the poorer class can get very desperate. This puts most in higher level of danger. They needed a serious dog not just to sound warning barks & have looks to deter an intruder but be a true man stopper. They don't have to contend with liability laws like we do here in the USA, if we trespass & get mauled by the Fila / dog, then O well for the intruder. USA the Fila's are a huge liability in most environments unless you line in the most rural area & get few visitors.
My friends Fila has killed coyotes, wondering dogs, & even a small pig for going into his property. She was sued by the dogs owner.
