I agree with Hamilton I think it is fine to ask questions about lines or dogs thats the way to learn more does not mean that youre not researching yourself but maybe someone lives in a country where there is not much experience with certain lines or sport if you cant ask then why is there a forum

I've also come across, a few times, the fact that the Sven/Sindy cross was banned by the SV. Does anyone know this to be TRUE with proof? Or is it another rumor?

by Gustav on 19 September 2011 - 11:09

I have a female that is linebred 2-4 on Sven, good sound nerve and good structure. I would not touch something with Sindy, but that's just me. I think that breeding was sanctioned in Germany. I know one of the litters with Sindy was a hip disaster. Take it for what its worth.

Truly, other than by asking people--both privately and publicly (online, in person, via phone), how are you supposed to "research" the production of a dog who deceased? I don't understand why people don't consider asking in a forum populated by people who love and follow the breed to be research.

Is it the only research that should be done? No. But you can definitely learn things and gain insight from people you might otherwise have never been in contact with. It is, of course, important to remember to factor in the "quality" of your sources--not everything you hear online (or in person!) is true or accurate or the whole story. So verify everything you can by cross-checking information.

Hamilton, interesting assumption on my motive. Shoot me an email in 2 years and let me know how that pup turned out. Your puppy is NINE WEEKS old. Thus, I think you're rather hasty in disregarding what I said as hearsay, rumors, and opinions and alleging that you got a serious protection dog. Regardless, why should everyone retype this every time someone asks? Is it really that out of line to request that the asking party simply search and peruse what's already written and  then post specific questions resulting from reading what's already been posted, over and over for many years? Google is your friend. Google

Gustav, exactly. Why Sven has gotten the bad rap on this is beyond me. Simple investigation tells you it's not him.

Blackthorn -- I completely agree with you. Thanks.

I imported an adult son of Sven, he was 3 years old at the time, ex hips, Sch111, V in conformation and his temperament was superb. (to the UK)
Quiyk was a proviledge to own. He was 'different', he was always composed and a little superior. Not a fighter, good with visitors, super stud. He produced calm, sensible temperaments and no problems with hips. I have a daughter with ex hips and a g'daughter who is zero in hip score!
Quiyk was put to sleep when 10 and half due to kidney problems.

Perhaps this thread should have been titled "Sindy Schaferliesel".

As Gustav and others have posted, there is nothing wrong with Sven.

Hi guys! All of this Sindy stuff is pretty new to me, although I have read a little about Boban in the past. I see what you guys are saying about the temperament that Sindy produces although I am just curious if any one knows what the temperament of Sindy herself was like?
