That's the problem isn't it Mo?  All these rumours fly about for weeks before a show and the only person who enters gets the ticket - it's a handy way of keeping people away from shows.
If nobody listened and everyone went to the show, who knows what would happen on the day?
Not saying Richmond isn't a foregone conclusion, BUT in general I think it's daft everyone staying away then moaning when the inevitable happens

by Doppelganger on 20 June 2010 - 20:06

But better than paying twenty odd quid plus travelling expenses and then finding the inevitable happens!

by Penny on 20 June 2010 - 20:06

I agree with spiritinthesky  -  you have to be in it to win it, if you go with a better dog and the inevitable happens, then it is seen to be wrong, but if thats the only dog there, then it gives creedance in some way.....but personally, we all have a better way of being in it now dont we if we want to progress.....  who wants CC`s - knowing that the dog that gets them doesnt even need to be healthy.  Its not much of an accolade compared with what we are now promoting - and just as importantly, enjoying  ! !    Mo.

Well your partly right, but on this occaision they happen to have been true and i for one did not want to pay just to make the numbers up. You asked if he was the best dog there on the day? hell no but that will not have mattered, the only time this dog wins is when his friends are judging and as he got most of their judging appointment for them...... well it just goes on.
We were told that the dog in question was also going to get the CC earlier on this year but i'd heard the judge would not be bullied by him and on the day he won Open dog but only got the RCC, he was bleeding furious and he spent all day by her judging table with his croonies. So you see we don't just not enter unless we have bloody good reason too, shows are costly but i enjoy them win or lose but no one wants to just make up numbers.
The entry will be terrible at Richmond too as the same will happen there but no matter who else enters there dogs they will not beat him even if his dog went around on 3 legs!
If any of my dogs are beaten by a better dog on the day then thats just fine and that is showing after all as none of us would be doing it if the same dog won time after time.
I truly hate the word Alsatianist as the only dogs you would picture are his.... this is not the case, none of my dogs are dippy backed overloaded in front on short legged but that is what this man has done so people think if you don't have a german bred dog then it must be an Alsatian WRONG, just as it is wrong to suggest all German bred dogs are ROACHED, LACK BONE, LONG HOCKS and front legs appearing out of one hole. The GSD club of the UK is going down the pan all due to one man and his beleif that if you don't own one of his dogs or something by his dogs then it's not a GSD.
Yes peole are voting with there feet and paws and chosing not to enter under these judges and not just because of Rumours.
One more point if you have dogs with his breeding in then please don't take offence as that is most certainly not my intention, :)

I have to agree with Speedfreak, in that Richmond will have a poor entry and yes for the reasons already stated. The judge for Richmond i believe travelled up to Border Union with the BOB dog and owner, and will in september be judging the same dog mmmmm. Border Union was an embarrassment to our breed, extremely low entry and predictable BOB, the bitch Res CC was lame and sired by the BOB. It was a closed shop from start to finish.
I totally agree with not supporting these so called judges and well done to all who stood by their principles and didn't enter Border Union.

You have my sincerest sympathy. It is the most serious challenge facing the Pedigree Dog Show scene and the Kennel Club have absolutely NO determination to resolve it or even to vigorously tackle it.

The only way forward that I can see, holding some hope for a better future, is to establish a Show Scene outside of the Kennel Club and then vigorously tackle such damaging behaviour.

"Beyond reasonable doubt" may be impossible to establish, however "on the balance of probabilities" may be a way of dealing with complaints.

I've been informed that the Judge at Border Union is now being ivestigated due to swearing and being abusive to an exhibitor at the show. The person involved was another judge, well what else can i say

The main problem is proving it these judges are approved by the KC to award their CCs and all they need to do is say that in their opinion this was the best dog on the day you cannot get something more open to corruption than these 11 words they are saying what the KC lay down as their rules best dog on the day  I have also heard that Mr Brandon has allegedly sent letters to all general champ show secretaries with a judging list stating that if they pick a judge from this list the he will guarantee no double handling.

this is outreagous.how dare he.well we,d better hope that not too many take up his offer as all those who have correct type gsds, but who do not like the german way of showing are going to be out on a limb.lets hope that Gary Gray intervenes.maybe the general champ.show judges ought to be picked by the KC and then no one can complain or moan about the winners.once ya know the judge the decision to enter will be down to oneself.i myself would be happy with this.i would also be happy with them choosing the breed champ.show judges from a list sent to them from a collation by the league and the breed council.this should then abolish all this back biting and sniping about the cc winners, which is going on at the present.wot do others feel.Carole S.

by Penny on 23 June 2010 - 10:06

If Roy Brandon has in fact done this Jim, perhaps he could then do a second letter - to promise that the competitors will get a fair crack of the whip, of is it more important that there is no double handling   !!!    Mo.
