That sounds very interesting, never heard of that one, but off to Asda anytime now for a chicken to give that a try - I have 8 bouncing 12 day olds at present and am always on the look out for new "maternal recipes" thanks a lot. MO.

okay, i've got a question. when i say i give goat milk, i'm talking raw, straight from the goat. i will agree that the concentrated stuff and the powdered stuff can give the runs if you give too much. and by too much i mean more than 1-2 cups for the dam per day.
what are you guys talking about? raw, powdered, canned concentrate? and how much? i have never seen dam or pups get the runs from raw goat milk. i've been known to use canned in a pinch........none in the freezer and none currently milking. in that case, i do limit consumption and mix with meals.

With the litter of 11 that was born here May 2009 I gave the mom K9 Puppy Gold that I ordered from K9power.com. I mixed it in with her kibble 2x a day. I fed her about 5 times a day. She ate about 20+ cups of dog food a day. It really helped with the milk supply. I also started feeding the puppies at 3.5 weeks old. I gave them soaked puppy food with the Puppy Gold mixed in. The whole litter turned out very nice and the mom looked really good too.
I really like how the Puppy Gold works. I will use it with my next litter.

jyl, that's interesting. i use some of the other products from k9 power, but i was also reading about the puppy gold. i noticed that it contains colostrum - awesome. i was wondering if the additional colostrum would help build even more immunity. if so, it might be beneficial for any dog that has problems with a depressed immune system. that's good to know that it works so well for the dam and litter.

jyl, after reading your reply, I could have typed it myself. LItter born in May 2009. Mom was on puppy gold from before conception to after whelping. Puppies on it too. You can see pics on Facebook (post was awhile ago though). K9power has a Facebook page if you want to become a fan.
