A  petition of Schutzhund enthusiasts may prove helpful towards making progress on this very important matter.

I would suggest that any petition is worded very carefully and it may prove useful there was also a similar petition for the FCI Worlds UK Team Selection, which has a similar problem.

Completed PETITONS could be sent to relevant organisations - The Kennel Club, The FCI, The WUSV etc.

Perhaps include a petition from BAGSD-VPG members - it may be predictable, however it may surprise and be helpful.

Maybe the GSDL Working Group could give this subject some consideration.

As Vice Chairman of the GSDL (Working Branch) Exec I would like to highlight that the GSDL has made every effort to resolve what it considers to be a totally unsatisfactory situation with regard to the issue of UK selection for both WUSV and FCI International events. The GSDL has a taken a reflective and measured approach to the problem, offering to negotiate with the BAGSD at all levels. We have also made every effort to communicate with the WUSV. The GSDL has sought to make UK based SCH Judges legitimate in the eyes of the WUSV and. latterly, the SV.  We have invited senior SV/WUSV Judges to officiate at our major events and visit to give instruction and Seminars.

From a personal perspective  It is therefore very disappointing indeed that the WUSV have chosen, in effect, to grant BAGSD the legitimacy to carry on with their plans to send an autonomous team to the WUSV in 2010.  Remember we will be unlikely to send a team to the WUSV in 2011; it is in the Ukraine where Pet Passports are not valid.

Last year I qualified my dog through the GSDL Selection proccess to participate in these events; I chose not to do so as a consequence of the above situation. This year, similarly, I have done the same thing - but again, I will not take part, nor will I until an appropriate, fair selection proccess adressess the current farce that is UK participation in these events at this time.

Any petition or vote amongst members of Schutzhund / VPG clubs should include both sides in my opinion - and I think you might be surprised at the views of the rank and file of the BAGSD VPG branches.

Separate petitions for each individual Schutzhund/VPG branch within the United Kingdom may be the route to go.

How then can anyone pick a proper team, where is the team Captain and how do they say who goes to the WUSV from both the GSDL and the BAGSD, seems like it is a free for all over there in the UK, No one running the procdure or a Team Captain very strange indeed one rule for one country the others do as you are told.
How is it the UK can get away with this when they are not even a sound working group together that is wrong

I was at the BAGSD VPG AGM.   The team captain for the "worlds" as they call it was given the task there and then at the BAGSD AGM.  There were no minutes, and members had 72 hrs notice that the AGM was going on - because it tied in with an event.  It was done during the lunch break at that event.
There was a suggestion from the floor, that better the team captain be chosen when it was known who would be going to the "worlds" and those competing could choose their captain.....
This was over-ruled as apparently, there was a proposal on the floor, but we had no minutes. The suggestion   was over-ruled by the Chair - Stuart Nye, as it had apparently been proposed by Tom Nye  that his mum was Team Captain again, and the Chair felt it should stand and be voted upon.
So.  We have Pauline as Team Captain, and as far as I am aware, Pauline doesnt have anything to do with choosing the team.   I believe that is done on merit of points at various trials.   So this is how we get the best of BAGSD and the best of the GSD League go forward.   The only sure thing is that 3 go from BAGSD and 2 go from the League (hope I am right on that one) and this is the problem I feel sure.
Whatever each team get by way of points, we have a situation that the best between 2 teams go, not the best in the UK.    Could be that 5 of BAGSD get the highest marks, only three will go and 2 from League.   Could be that League get the 5 top competitors, but only 2 will go, and 3 from BAGSD.  Ludicrous.
Seems that lots of people have asked BAGSD if they agree to a joint trial and have no answers.   I am going to try for a personal answer to me  -  hope its not too rude.  Will let you know.  I am going to ask Tom to pass an email to his dad Stuart, and see how he feels about a joint trial as Chair of the BAGSD VPG - I think I aught to be able to ask that question as a person at the moment still registered as a BAGSD VPG club.
