With all the "scary weird" breedings that are being done lately........who the heck knows??
We've now seen (Panda's, Brindles, Pinks, Blues...every color practically under the rainbow)....why would "this" litter surprise anyone??....AND they are PURPOSELY BEING BRED.
Personally......I don't believe that they are "pure-bred" GSD puppies....JMO.

All puppies are cute.....it's God's way to pull at our heart strings!!

They sure are cute!  It's difficult to tell at this age, but from the white splotching/white tip I would expect them to be half border collie.  Or maybe Akita, but certainly not purebred GSD. Not that there's anything wrong with crosses, but they shouldn't try to claim they're pure.

I would suggest you go to a rescue and get one there. there are a lot of wonderful dogs lookin for a home, and you can get a pur bred pup if that is what your heart is set on. Just advise them as to what you want.

If you want a good GSD puppy, find a real breeder who actually cares for the quality of the puppies they produce, does health checks, hip certs, etc.

If you just want a GSD as a pet, contact a breed-specific rescue.  Many pure-bred GSD's die every year in shelters because they are unwanted.  No need to waste your time with the BYB's that create this problem in the first place.

BTW - you say your neighbor wants you to "adopt" one of her cute little mongrels... I hope that doesn't mean "buy" one. The neighbor should be grateful that you would take a puppy for free to help give the puppies good homes.

Man, I was really hoping that the white patches were just another weird form of the breed as a pup.

I'm pretty sure they didn't have any intention to have this litter, especially because its FTGH.  As I said, they were very upfront with me, after they found out from a local GSD breeder that the litter could possibly be a mixed litter, they immediately called me and told me what was up.  They didn't request an adoption fee from the get-go, they have a home daycare and just couldn't have all these rambunctious puppies running around.  They said they were getting her fixed after this litter but in all honesty, they live in the middle of no where and most of those town's around here, they don't bother getting their dog's fixed.

I did happen to see a video on YouTube from a breeder and these pups look a lot like the ones that her dogs produce but as I said, I'm no expert.  www.youtube.com/user/localchoices#p/a/u/2/33MUjzuJ0rE  here is the link, should anyone want to give their input.  The mother in these videos, looks EXACTLY like the mother of this litter.  The ironic thing is that both their name's are Luna... weird huh?

I feel bad for these pups because who knows where they will end up if they aren't found homes.  I'm not trying to get them just to get them, they have at least some GSD in them but I'm hoping that I'm taking a good chance that I pick one from the correct sire.... They are so cute and they are growing sooooo quick.  Their paws are a pretty good size too so I'm guessing the adult form will be pretty big.

I really had my heart set on a pure-bred GSD but I'm wondering if I should take a chance on one of these pups.  I'm not the kind of person to want to re-home a dog if, "i don't like him."  I'm in it for the long haul.

Unfortunately the local specific breed rescues around here make you jump through hoops to get through their adoption process.  I know it's for the best of the animal but I really don't want to deal with all that.  To top it off, they aren't very friendly with the police department that I work for, so they kind of gave me a sour taste.

Also, I have been diligently keeping in contact with the local shelters in the area, even into neighboring states but no one seems to have been getting any GSD pure-bred puppies coming in.  I'm really set on a puppy so I can give it the best home possible from the start and not have to back track through past issues that they may have experienced.  My current dog I rescued from a local shelter and she had so many issues that it stressed me out to no end because I felt like everything I did she still had those underlying issues.  After over a year of getting past those issues, I'm still dealing with some of them but for the most part I would adopt her again in a heartbeat.

Any thoughts?

Your decision really needs to be whether you want a purebred GSD or not.  What do you intend to do with the dog?  If it's Schutzhund then a border collie or Akita cross wouldn't be desirable.  If it's obedience, or SAR, or something else, then a cross might be perfectly fine.  If it's a pet, does it need to be pure?  I'm not saying yes or no, but that it's your decision.  Talking about the bitch is only half the genetic set -- with an unknown sire you might end up with something that only vaguely resembles a GSD in looks or behavior.  It's hard to tell until the pups mature what they'll be like.

If you do decide you want a purebred, then it's up to the "breeders" of this litter to look out for the pup's future, not yours.  Sorry if that sounds harsh, but people who know so little that they need to go to someone else to identify black and white pups as non-GSD have no business "breeding" and should have their bitch spayed.    When they realized that she was pregnant they could have taken her to the vet for a prostaglandin shot to terminate the pregnancy if they weren't certain of the sire. They had options, they were careless, now it's their responsibility.  (Yes, I know it's ultimately the dogs that suffer, but frankly shelters are overflowing with perfectly good dogs in need of homes.  Careless owners adding to the problem because they can't be bothered to regulate their dog's fertility don't get any sympathy from me.  And for the record, my previous two GSD's were adopted, as is my current one.  It is possible to get purebreds through the shelter system, you just have to be patient.  If you want a puppy, though, then it's best to either go through a rescue, or go to a reputable breeder.)

Live4tday, i looked at the puppies in your link and these puppies look absolutely nothing like the ones you have shown here.  I do not see how you can possibly say they look alike, unless i am looking at different videos from you. The link shows 100% gsd puppies, your pictures here are 100% mixed.
