Rentals,
Same here on the Blue river, in the summer its calm and nice scenery going down to the Ohio river, in spring if we've had enough snow or rain its white water, I don't know what the fee's are.
We have several nice places here to canoe, lots of wildlife and fishing. The Ohio can be iffy with barge traffic and pleasure boaters but its a lot of National Forest on both sides and you can find some primitive camping spots.
If you know where to look you can even find Artifacts left behind by Native Americans. Mostly Flints and arrow heads, sometimes pottery.
We even have a few resident Bald Eagles that use the river and a few of the smaller creeks for fishing and taking water fowl.
You can see Great Blue Herons and Beaver everywhere and plenty of Deer come down to the waters edge.
Things you will never see using a power boat.
And if you get to bored there is always a party on Flint Island with friendly folks to meet on the weekends.
Can you tell I'm missing my boat....LOL
I couldn't trust my dogs in a canoe, they'd rather swim and I'd end up wet for sure.
I see your wearing your life preserver...................:) I'd say Drake did very well.
I took all of mine to the river today, Isabelle likes the water but she's not ready to start swimming yet. The other two splash around so much, she just goes out till her belly gets wet and barks at them.
I didn't take a camera this trip.
I'll try to get some shots next weekend for sure.

We're on the Ohio too, but we never seem to go that way. Toward the southeast are the Laurel Highlands, beautiful country, plenty of wildlife. Blue Heron are plentiful on the Youghiogheny, rarely see beaver unless you go further north. Not saying there aren't any, just don't see them much. I did spot a weasel when I was in Ohio last month, first one I've seen in a long time. Deer are in the city here, too plentiful, it's nice to see them in wooded areas instead of in your headlights! Coyotes, hear them but rarely see them during the day. Do love the peace and quiet, nice to be on water too.
Yes, I was wearing my life preserver, I thought for sure Drake would tip us. He gave me a few scares but he didn't like the wobble so it was fairly easy to get him to platz. He barely fit in the space between the seats and we were on the water for quite a while. I was wondering just how I was going to get him back in the canoe if it did tip, glad I didn't have to find out :o)
