I have to add, on another note...It is awesome and impressive you know and read your dog so well and are 100% responsible with him. You take precautions (muzzle in public) and I applaud that.
As mollyandjack said, People are not too bright, and want to be all touchy with strange dogs. I can't stand that. AND, I am a groomer at Petsmart. I see it every day/all day and it drives me crazy. That, and the people with retractable leads who ignore their dogs while they pee all over everything UGHHHH...
Anyway, hope your vet is understanding and lets you stay, Best of Luck

P.S. You didn't exaggerate about the vet...Poking=needles...Prodding=thermometer, of course he'll be disgruntled! :)
