Now If I want to investigate on a dog that is Sv rated (hip and elbows) is there a place I can look, like OFA database??
Is there a place we can check and investigate bloolines etc..
Thanks

Chris and Robin, I agree with both of you wholeheartedly. The total dog must be considered to especially consider siblings, and parentage, along with other variables.

Well said, Gustav. I think this is exactly why the really good breeders are as much artists as they are scientists.

July, just put in the dogs SV number. The ZW will come up.
Really, as far as the GSD goes, there is no system in the world better than this.
The ZW# takes into account the dogs "family".
In a few years, the elbows will be included.
Anyone can say what they want about the SV, but they do realize what attracts 40,000 people to their show every year and that they must ensure that their product is marketable.

OK..so I got the ZW number but this doesn't tell if he is normal-fast normal and if his elbows are certified.
I do understand that the ZW takes into account the dogs family but for this dog it can't be that high because he is only half german bred. He was V rated in the states and KKL1 last year. 'A' Stamp.
The owner told me he was hip and elbow certified but I wanted to see the score. is there a way we can check that?
Of course he is hip certified cause he has to be to be breed surveyed no?? But for the elbows i'M not sure..
Regards.

All dogs born after January 1, 2004 must also have a passing elbow grade in order to qualify for an SV breed survey:

july, I think I misunderstood what you were asking. If the dog was xrayed and certified in Germany, then it will be stamped on his SV papers and the H/E rating.
If x rayed in North America and sent to Germany for certification, then I think the best you can do is ask to see the certification of H/E. I don't think he would be included in their ZW system.

Also even though the SV does accept OFA hip certs, they do not accept OFA elbows, so the elbow xrays would have to have been submitted thorugh the SV or one of the organizations they accept elbow rating from and recieved an acceptable rating in order for the dog to have an SV breed survey if the dog was born after 1/1/04.
This leads me to some confusion regarding USA organization. I remember when the info about the SV requiring them came down the pike, I thought I read that USA was going to follow suit but now I see nothing to that effect on the site. Am I just missing it or something? I believe GSDCA-WDA is requiring them aren't they?
