Kelly M Shaw

I personally won't use a stud if he has something wrong with him. I had 1 male many years ago that produced 10 pups and out of 10 pups 3 had allergy's so I pulled him from the program, and he is in a very loving home and has never been bred to again. It did come from him too and not my female.  That is just me of course and how I am. I feel it's wrong to tell someone something about their stud that is totally false!!! To me they are just adding more GSD's that can have more than 1 health problem to the mix, and are not helping the breed out at all!!!

Kelly:

Did the male have allergies? or any alergy problem with parents, siblings, gransparents? of the male?

Excellent post.  I have a friend that just got a dog from a roaming stud and for the first time in ten years a breeder produced nearly 15 lame dogs.  Once the breeder went back to a prior stud and sibling issue solved.

Bob I do not know if his siblings, grandparents ever had problems, but I noticed with him that once I moved into a totally different enviroment (woods) I started to notice a problem. His mother also as she got older started to develop allergies (hot spots). This is why I found him a forever home.
