mystery
I was suggesting a way for UScA clubs to financially benefit from "the letter".

What is KMBA?

Sour grapes much Cottrell?

So I guess anyone using the UScA trials is a welfare recipient  who doesn't hold that precious UScA membership card?

I didn't read SitasMom post as a suggestion that that would be offered for free Nia.

Betty, nobody could (since Sitasmom actually said her suggestion meant
"More $$$ for USCA"...)  It would also give them an opportunity to show,
through training seminars and whatever else, that USCA thinks it knows the
'right' way to do things, [and WHY, of course], in re: the Standard, Competition
Rules, or anything else.  Surely an educational opportunity for all interested
parties ?   And if people were paying to attend, that surely is 'win / win' ?   Why
does Mystere NOT think that is a helpful idea ?  Why does she draw (ridiculous
and unneccesary) comparisons with Welfare Recipients ?  PLEASE EXPLAIN
YOUR ATTITUDE, Nia, to this poor foreigner !

Perhaps I am naive but I really don't understand the drama.  When my WDA club had a trial, show and survey last year a large number of entries were for USCA members and most of the surveys were for USCA members.  Not one of them was treated with less respect than any WDA member and all were welcomed equally.  I seriously doubt that there will ever be an overwhelming influx of WDA people trialing at USCA events as opposed to the USCA entries in WDA shows.  Why is it that there is such venom out on the part of USCA members?

Can't we all just welcome each other to our events with the goal of the betterment of the breed?

UScA walks away from the SV and the Germans and Stands on it,s own as the premiere working dog orginization here in the US the WDA dies a fast painfull death because of the lack of trialing and support. The GSCDA finds it,s self in teh problem of where to title there dogs with no working dog orginization to allow them. The UScA makes agreements with different orginizations to accept there scores and score books and builds healthy parrtneships of common bond and mutual respect and strengthens the working German shepherd in the process. WIN,WIN,WIN!

Bubba,

i love your concept of following the rules.

From the WUSV Constitution:

Section 3 Object and Function

The object and function of the WUSV is the world-wide implementation of the object and function of the SV in terms of the uniform breeding and training of German Shepherd dogs.

(1) The member associations are obligated to:

  1. a)  recognizing the racial features of the German Shepherd as stipulated by the SV;

  2. b)  recognizing the Breeding Book for German Shepherds and the Book of Selection for Breeding Purposes of the SV as mother country of the breed...

c) control of breeding, raising, owning and training on the basis of the regu- lations of the SV.

From the GSDCA Bylaws:

b. To urge members and breeders to accept that standard of the breed, as approved by the American Kennel Club, as the only standard of excellence by which the German Shepherd Dog shall be judged

GSDCA has had decades to work toward compliance with the WUSV Constitution.  As they represent a different constituency, they will never do so.

Yet, the WUSV recognizes them In direct violation of their own requirements for membership.

And, GSDCA as the recognized member refuses to issue scorebooks and themselves hold the events, adhere to the breeding standards, etc... That the WUSV mandates.

WDA could justifiably apply for recognition and membership to the WUSV..  The GSDCA clearly cannot yet Herr Henke allows it.

From the GSDCA's own website, the lie inherent in the Henke/Yee letter equating WDA membership to GSDCA membership is clear:

What Exactly IS the WDA (GSDCA-WDA)?

The German Shepherd Dog Club of America-Working Dog Association, Inc. (GSDCA-WDA) is affiliated with the German Shepherd Dog Club of America and is dedicated to the welfare and betterment of the German Shepherd Dog.

A Member of the WUSV

Through its affiliation with the German Shepherd Dog Club of Americ. the WDA is a member of the WUSV, the World Union of German Shepherd Dog Clubs. The WDA provides enthusiasts a framework for activities in the United States patterned after those available to the world-wide GSD community.

WDA Member Clubs

WDA member clubs host schutzhund trials, conformation shows and breed surveys in keeping with the Total Dog Concept. This concept supports a dog that conforms to the breed standard and is also proficient in working skills, such as herding, tracking, obedience, or protection.

Since the German Shepherd Dog was intended to be a working dog, our club activities are designed to promote the necessary genetic characteristics of the breed.

Focused on Working Titles Since 1982

The GSDCA-WDA accepts working titles obtained in trials sponsored by other schutzhund organizations such as the Verein fuer Deutsche Schaeferhunde (SV) in Germany, DVG and United Schutzhund Clubs of America (USCA). All score-books issued by these organizations are accepted by the GSDCA-WDA, as are earned titles awarded by any trial judge certified by the SV, DVG, or USCA. Although recognized by GSDCA-WDA, the SV does not recognize schutzhund titles or AD's awarded by DVG and USCA judges as valid prerequisites for Breed Surveys conducted under SV Kormeisters.

WDA Organization

WDA clubs are organized into 9 regions. Members within each region are represented by Regional Directors on the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is also composed of the WDA's elected Officers and General Directors assigned by the GSDCA. The Board appoints various Board Members to serve on the Executive Committee which makes policy recommendations to the full Board for their approval. In addition to the Eecutive Committee, several standing Committees have been formed to assist in governing the organization. And an Office Administrator has been installed to oversee and direct the administrative operations of the organization.

WDA & GSDCA Memberships

While many GSDCA members are also WDA members, and vice versa, membership in each organization is separate.
