Structurally a grand specimen, of noble appearance along with swift sure gait. SIEGER Erich von Grafenwerth's double grandsire 1909 SGR Hettel Uckermark was of stable/sane temperament, yet SIEGER Erich von Grafenwerth was faulty in this respect, which came through his sire, Alex vom Westfalenheim, and his great grand sire 1906/07 SGR Roland von Starkenburg. The beautiful Flora (Berkemeyer) SZ 25573 Erich's Maternal grand dam, was not sure in temperament either. This slight unsureness in temperament of Erich's led to more strict tests at SV shows and surveys while Erich himself was exported to the United States of America.

 In Germany, monorchids were allowed to breed and the result was that many bloodlines carried this trait on. Among those that were monorchids themselves and who were used extensively both in Germany and the United States of America were Aribert vom Saarland, son of SIEGER Erich von Grafenwerth, Graf von Cleverhamm, Drusus zum Reuerer, and his sire Falko vom Indetal also grandsire of 1929 SGR Utz vom Haus Schütting through his dam V Donna zum Reuerer, Sister to Drusus.

This is a photo of Erich at about 14 years old! (He lived past that.) There are pics of him younger, but I can't seem to post one here.

A huge influence on the breed. He had a wavy spinal coat, which gave rise to the term "Erich coat" early on.
