Kudos to the owner who is having dog OFA'd now that he is older (his vet says the xrays look good). And kudos also for going to the work to post newer videos. And it is good news that the sprain, strain, or pad cut is now healed up and the gait is normal once again. It means a great deal when a stud dog owner who is advertising his SV titled GSD title GSD for stud has hip xrays redone at or after two years old. Everyone wants puppies with good hips. A two year or later adult hip rating of good or better greatly increases the odds of good hip conformation in any litters sired by that stud dog as long as the dam has healthy hip conformation too. This dog is capable of good bitework and obediance and is worthy of his Sch 3 title. Plus he is an attractive male also.

Pretson, you made a very fair report with the initial information I have supplied at the time. I totally jumped the gun. I do apologize for that. I should have thanked you for pointing that out to me. The only thing I was really paying attention to in that video was his bite work and out. I never really watched the slow motion portion of the video. I also have Dirk by my side for most of the day, as in now he is laying at my feet, and know that he has a very nice gait and no hitch. I have OFA pending the Vet that took the x-rays told me that they are the best that he has seen in a long time. I do not have the x-rays with me nor did I scan them. I have sent them off already. Thanks again.

I have no bone to pick with anyone and I am not now promoting any stud dog myself and will not be doing so. I call it the way I see it. Owner posts whole page announcement advertisement of his new dog as stud, just arriving from Germany. Owner includes listing of some very tough requirements for any bitch to be able to be bred to his dog. OFA hips, etc. Then owner displays a video which shows a noticable propulsion problem in his dog, an apparent hitch in the rear. I made a comment in response to owners ad and bitch requirement. I said the hitch could be a hip problem or an injury (competition dogs often get sprains, pad cuts or ligament tears). Owner first denied there was a hitch. Then owner watches the video closely and sees the hitch. He then does what I suggested and displays new videos showing no hitch. I did not notice any hitch in the newest videos (not including the earlier one from the Sieger show in Germany). So I am going to assume that the owner is being truthful here that the Dog has healed up. It is my view that the dog has a very nice temperament for a showline GSD. He is capable of good obediance and good bitework. He is an attractive dog and certainly attained his Sch degrees deservedly. Two suggestions for the owner. Don't just post videos without knowing how they look, and attempt meet the standards you set for bitches coming to him. When you expect one standard for the bitches coming to him you bneed to show that you your dog also meets that standard. (I suggest that you have your dog's hips re-xrayed now that he is older. The top German stud dogs are required to do this when they are older). And post his actual hip ratings of his country of registration and/or actual hip photos like one of the very finest GSD importers Eurosport K9 does. And, I would certainly agree with your request for Oli to remove these comments. You can copy and paste my post here to him.

in reference to Preston's comments, I have posted some videos that were taken today. There is now hitch. Today I worked Dirk hard... I threw the ball a good, did some tracking, and some bite work, then did a short walk and shows no hitch..... take a look at the videos below..

Thank you David A. Von Fischer

Please do look at the video. Judge for yourself. Dirk has not hitch. Preston is clearly competing with someone here.

Maybe V Dirk sprained his rear leg or cut his pad (this can happen to competition showdogs easily and does and take time to heal-ligament strains can take weeks and can make a GSD hitch a bit in the rear and it does look like this)and if so, I suggest the owner substitute a video after it heals showing him moving in the rear normally as he must have to have gotten his KK1 and V ratings. Certainly this dog has great male type and a lot of good things to transmit and the breed needs this type of excellent and correct masculinity and temperament, especially in the showlines which are so deficient in male type and excellent working temperament. And his front opening is exceptional, probably because of his direct link to Baru which is known to a dominant producer of that.

Owner has provided a video of V Dirk for evaluation. The dog's bitework and temperament look very good. And the owner certainly advertises him as a stud with a very selective, very tough, very demanding, no-nonsense stud agreement requiring good or better OFA hips and normal elbows in any bitch sent for breeding. Can this dog himself meet those same very tough demanding standards?

The problem is that this dog himself has an obvious hitch in the rear, seems to be in the right hip. If you watch the second half of the video clip you will see it as clear as can be. Breed your bitch to him at your own peril. This dog appears to have a nice opening front, nice coat and color, and is very masculine, but unfortunately also appears to have seriously deficient propulsion in the rear.

This is a dog pedigree, used by breeders and breed enthusiasts to see the ancestry and line-breeding of that individual dog. The pedigree page also contains links to the dogs siblings and progeny (if any exist). For dog owners with purebred dogs this is an excellent resource to study their dog's lineage.
