Walter Martin told me that Palme was the ugly oversized sister of Perle but,  according to him,  she would and proved to be the foundation of the breed as we know it today.  Unfortunately, her sister Perle, shortly after becoming Siegerin, was sadly sold to one of those Neanderthal throwback countries and was never heard from again in the breed.

All one has to do is to go to Perle's pedigree, the VA1 sister and see how few she produced vs. Palme, who was not only passed up in the show circuit but fortunately whomever owned her, knew what he had, presumably the WildSteiger Land kennel, as most of her progeny carries that name
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=116&p=progeny

The famous Q litter of Arminius and then the U litter of vom WildSteiger Land were her great contributions producing the famous super producing males VA Quando von Arminius and VA1 Uran vom Wildsteiger Land.

Moreso when it comes to genetic stamping i looked at the Dam (Xalome) of my male, Cole, and said "geese she looks just like Palme Wildsteiger Land" and put the 2 pics next to each other and the resemblance is uncanny. Now, of course, Palme is in Cole's pedigree, six generations back!

This is not the type the judges seek nowadays for the female VA's, which is their loss & therefor, our loss. Palme is one sleek momma, build for speed and agility which is what a great GS should be.

And to all the working line people no offense, i'm sure there is an equivalent female as known as Palme in your lines, you just can't have Palme ;) she is ours ;)

Mother of Uran and Quando and others is only half the story.
She was an expert herder in the mountains at the age of ten.
How many of our present day Siegers with their long stifle today can even run at that age?
Do not blindly follow what the so called experts advocate, go for the soundest and strongest dogs. Without stamina and strength any GSD is GARBAGE.

On my walk down memory lane, Palme cannot be ignored. She was a great producing female.

You really need to clarify your statements. Palme is NOT part of "every" pedigree, just the show line pedigrees. You will not find her in 99.9% of the working line pedigrees.

Berty,

It seems you think you have made a amazing discovery that "Palme Wildsteigerland is part of every pedigree". Of course she has to be part of almost each and every pedigree as she is mother of VA1 Uran Wildsteigerland and VA1 Quando Arminius. These are the sires who are the foundation of modern GSD breeding. Dogs are still linebred on these dogs.

If you are new  to GSD world then yes your observation is perfect and must appreciate you for that.

One more thing Palme was born in 1979 as per this site so it will be miracle if she is still alive if you want to buy her. About finding a grand daughter also you will have to find a daughter of Uran or Quando which again will be miracle because now mostly Uran and Quando are in 5th generation onwards. My suggestion would be to find a bitch who is line bred on Uran or Quando.

HI USERS

I MUST AGREE WITH TOTTEN , PALME VOM WILDSTEIGER LAND IS

PART OF MOST TO EVERY PEDIGREE I HAVE SEEN SO FAR I CAN TELL YOU ONE THING

IF THIS BITCH WAS STILL ALIVE (IS SHE STILL ALIVE) I WOULD BUY HER WHO EVER THE OWNER OR BREEDER WAS YOU'VE DONE A PERFECT JOB SHE HAS PRODUCED MOST OF THE FAMOUSE VA'S AROUND AND I HOPE SHE WILL LIVE AMONG US FOR AS LONG AS THERE ARE GSD'S AROUND . SHE WAS NOT A VA LIKE HER SISTER PEARL .IF THERE ARE A GRANDDAUGHTER OUT THERE I WOULD NOT HESISTATE TOO BUY HER.

REGARDS

THE MOST IMPORTANT BREEDING HUNDINN EVER TO HAVE LIVED!!!!

This is a dog pedigree, used by breeders and breed enthusiasts to see the ancestry and line-breeding of that individual dog. The pedigree page also contains links to the dogs siblings and progeny (if any exist). For dog owners with purebred dogs this is an excellent resource to study their dog's lineage.
