Make use of health screening schemes, relevant to their breed, on all breeding stock. These schemes include DNA testing, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia and inherited eye conditions.
Then why are some of these breeders who are supposedly KC accredited only hip scoring?
A liiter planned for Nov both dam and sire hip scored nothing else. Do not the KC check against their own records?

**** MUST DO **** the health screens relevant to their breed ???????????. You forgot the haemophilia test.

Accredited Breeders must:
1. Ensure that all breeding stock is Kennel Club registered
2. Hand over the dog's registration certificate at time of sale if available, or forward it to the new owner as soon as possible. Explain any endorsements that might pertain and obtain written and signed confirmation from the new owner, at or before the date on which the dog is physically transferred, that the new owner is aware of the endorsement(s), regardless of whether or not the endorsed registration certificate is available.
3. Follow Kennel Club policy regarding maximum age and number/frequency of litters.
4. Permanently identify breeding stock by DNA profile, microchip, or tattoo.
5. Make use of health screening schemes, relevant to their breed, on all breeding stock. These schemes include DNA testing, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia and inherited eye conditions. Current health requirements under the ABS (pdf).
6. Socialise the puppies and provide written advice, in the Puppy Sales Wallet, on continuation of socialisation, exercise and future training.
7. Provide written advice, in the scheme Puppy Sales Wallet, on feeding and worming programmes.
8. Provide a written record, in the Puppy Sales Wallet, on the immunisation measures taken.
9. Provide reasonable post-sales telephone advice.
10. Inform buyers of the requirements and the recommendations that apply to Kennel Club Accredited Breeders as well as the existence of the complaints procedure.
11. Draw up a contract of sale for each puppy and provide a copy in the Puppy Sales Wallet.
even their should list covers it
Kennel Club Accredited Breeders should:
4 Follow relevant breed health screening recommendations.

Not many puppy farmers or "other type" GSD`s would be getting a look in from people that wanted to buy or own good sound dogs
This would bbring about an "elite" system which could only be good for the breed, and good for people wishing to have a GSD from any-one, as they would have a benchmark to look to.

This Explanation was on the 'Split Withdrawn' thread which for continuity I have repeated here Thanks Mo and John for your explanations above, I will try to make the proposal a little clearer as both of you have got the main gist of it but not necessarily understand it fully, so a very quick and simple explanation below I hope will suffice.
The Idea is to run the Accredited GSD scheme within the KC ABS. This currently has 3 Accoloades each with their own Mandatory requirement. Our proposal was to ave a fourth Accolade (we suggested the BC Logo for this) which will also have its own Mandatory requirement, this being Breeding from Breed Council Surveyed animals. However we felt in order to further differentiate from 'other KC Accredited Breeders' those with BC Accolade should get Purple Registrations for their litters as a further distinction to complying with the BREED SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT.
The Breed Specific Requirement is where the Two Tier Registration System will come into its own. I understand why John might be thinking the KC wont produce something just for us but actually it doesnt matter whether ANY OTHER BREED does Breed Surveys or not, WE the GSD PEOPLE have decided that SURVEYS are to be OUR SPECIFIC BREED REQUIREMENT, Labradors might just decide a Hip Score below XX and an Eye test is sufficient enough as THEIR SPECIFIC BREED REQUIREMENT, and therefore their breeders would get Purple Registrations on just those two recommendations. Dobermans might decide something else and so on and so forth. It is NOT FOR US to DICTATE to other Breeds what their SPECIFIC requirements will be for their own Breed. Some breeds might look at the GSD Specific Requirement and think it would be good for them and start their own Breed Surveys but it is irrelevent to us what the other Breeds do, what is important is that We all get what we believe is most Specifically Important to our own Breed and ask for that to be the Breed Specific Accolade. Of course we will need the GSD BC Database to be constantly updated with dogs that have done their BC Survey and this will also include Foreing dogs with a Korung (Breed Survey) in their own country, for it will be this that will verify the Credibility of the Purple Registered Litters.
Hope this explanation helps you all to understand the concept a little more.
