Bob,

I have some mixed feelings.  On one hand I agree with you about the sport vs. breed test issue.  On the other, many top line GSD working dogs don't compete in Schh or other sport trials.  In fact, many military and police handlers believe the Schh sport is BS.  Will the dog bite when no sleve is present.  Will the dog protect and bite without the "routine" of starting a session?  A sport dog is a sport dog.  A working dog may be a sport dog but does not have to be.

One of the best GSD's I have ever owned could not even pass a BH due to his aggression.  I fixed him and did not breed him.  He faced an intruder about 4 years ago at my home before he died and he was a sight to behold.  He protected in front of me and retreated to my side on command without any Schh training at all.   Quite frankly, this dog was so protective I would not trust him around a judge.

But, with all that said, under the current U.S. sport structure I agree with you 100%.  The exceptions I talked about can go both ways.
