TIG

Being a long time German Shepherd person, my selection of car make & model was usually determined by how well it would function to transport my dogs. Most of my vehicles were bought used because of limited finances. Being retired they still are :)). I currently have a wonderful Ford E350 a gift from my friend Deleta. It had been her boarding kennel van and came with dog grahics all over it including a # of Shepherds and the words K9 Ambassador. Left the graphics on as it connects me with dog lovers tho I can not go anywhere incognito. It is so striking even folks I dont know will come up and say "I saw you at ___( fill in the blank) :) People will come up & ask if I train dogs so I function as a moving billboard for my favorite local trainers.

It has been a great vehicle for me. Not only is there room for dogs & crates but I have a recliner in there so it functions as my camper as well. In 2021 got to take 2 dogs out to a friend in Missouri. He was paying the gas so I dragged my feet all the way back to Commieforna. 4 MO, 14 states not a C19 restriction in sight. Got out of Wy 3 days b4 the snow started falling. It was glorious. Camped out at truck stops, national parks and the like.Truth be told I'm itching to do it again.

The one downfall to this magnificent vehicle is the gas mileage- 12mpg. Because of that and also because I want to keep it as long as possible I'm toying w the idea of finding something to use locally that is more gas efficient but would still have room for at least one , preferably two crates. So would love to hear what folks are driving these days and also what has been their favorite over the years.

My previous cars included an old ark of a Chevy station wagon-we called them beach wagons back in the day. Built like a tank made out of steel. SAAB99-early front wheel drive superb 4 living on Canadian border. Mercury Lynx- it functioned that's about it. Then a series of Dodge Grand Caravans. My sentimental favorite was not a dog car, In college myndad sold me his car for a buck cause it had no trade in value -1964 Chevy Belair. Lordy I wish I still had it, I would be in fat city :). But New England winters & salt took their toll. The 5th time I had the frame welded the guy said no more. Sigh. This was back in the day w simple engines anyone could figure out and fix and they ran forever. The Belair had over 200k on it.

So have at it. Let us know what you love and what you hated,
