I have heard rumor of liver and blue GSDs that are titled in schutzhund, but I don't know of any particular dogs.  I would be interested in seeing photos of these off-colors working in schutzhund, herding or other types of titles.

I just recently had a litter of pups, and to my surprise there are livers in the litter, both liver/red and liver sables (the pedigree is all West German showlines, sable comes from Timo Berrekasten).  Until now, I had never given any consideration to the livers or blues.  But now I am curious to see some who have earned titles.

(and btw...for those who are going to ask.  No, I do not intend to get involved with intentionally breeding off-colors)

never seen or heard of one of either faulty color in any schutzhund club, working towards let alone receiving a title.

The "color" of the dog does not prevent it from aquiring a ScH or similar working title,.. HOWEVER;...it WILL prevent them from obtaining a required "show rating & Korrung". .....this is possibly the reason that you cannot find info on any.

Considering you say you don't intend to get into breeding off colours you are asking a lot of money for them $1200 , so for that price you must intend selling them on with full papers for others to continue breeding that colour ?.   You advertise them as being ideal for Schutzhund yet they are showline bred ????????.

WELL I'VE SEEN  WELL KNOWN  KENNELS ON HERE SELL LONG COATS WITH FULL BREEDING RIGHTS .....I ALSO SEE ALOT OF WEST GERMAN SHOW LINE DOGS WITH SCH3 TITLES .SO the ONLY PROBLEM I SEE IS HYPOCRITES . AND  NO I DO NOT BREED OR PROMOTE THE OFF COLOR DOGS FOR BREEDING . I DO NOT THINK THE COLOR WILL DETERMINE IT'S SPORTING ABILITY. JMO

Wuzzup I think there is a difference between long coat and live/blue shepherd..
If you breed a long coat and make sure you do it with a non-carrier you will end up with only short coat.

Also all the liver (5 ) i had to pleasure to met had all allergie problem or immune system problems..I think it speaks for itself!
But it doesn't remove their working abilities..If someone buy a live or blue and wants to work it and put titles..I don't see any problem with it..you should not breed them thought.. JMO

He is training one of the sable males but he does not train in a club..he is a long time trainer whose dad was an akc Judge.   There are several lines in that pedigree that have liver productions in them.

july9000 Well in the same token you can breed a liver or blue to a non Carrier of the liver or blue gene and get no livers or blues. . This is my belief as far as I have seen and read . Also I'VE  READ AND SEEN of all color dogs with skin and health problems. I do not think the incidence is any higher in the off colors . Just more talked about and scrutinized . I believe some folks around here have more statistics on off colors then me . This is JMO .... Looks like I was posting the same time as yellowrose .              Jeanne

some dilute lines do carry Canine dilute alopecia,  the dilute colored hairs are brittle and break easily.  same thing with blue dobies, poms, chihuahuas ect.  it is up to the breeder to test for CDA in their lines and to choose breeding partners who do not carry this.

there is no evidence suggesting the dilute colors are not as healthy as the normal colors.

most dilute pups are placed as pets,  so you often do not see them in working homes.  I saw a blue male with a SCH1 years ago.
