Just a new spin on teach a man to fish...To teach a kid to garden...

ThatWasClose-- remember the canning, dehydrating, or freeze-drying supplies  ;-)

I do not can, dehydrate or freeze dry.

Mother canned. Don't lecture about botulism, putting the abject fear of it into kids, & then tell us to eat the stuff. There were many a meal I went to bed hungry.

I do store some squashes & root veggies in the basement.

I just found out it's not just China with wet markets... there are over 80 wet markets in New York City that cater mostly to immigrants. How is that even legal, given USDA and Health Department regulations, animal abuse statutes, inspections, etc.? ... and how are there 80? I could understand if one or a few managed to slip under the radar or pay someone off, but 80?!!!

Not going to post video... disturbing, disgusting, etc. If you want to see, Google it :-(

Nature we have a large population of people who immigrated here that eat this way, same as they did back home. New York has I think the largest population then San Francisco in the area known as what else China Town.

Yes. And a lot more different animals, including birds. Absolutely horrible.

And according to news reports I have seen New York is the worst affected by this!! Watched them burying bodies in a mass grave on the news, so sad!!

mrdarcy, that is Hart Island, New York City's potters field. all the poor, unclaimed, homeless are buried there. and that is a lot in a city that size.

still sad, but not all necessarily covid related.
