Getting my first imported dog - Page 1

I’m looking into getting an imported titled female from either Czech rep or Slovakia I’ve found a couple that I’m really interested in an I’ve done a lot of research on it an I know exactly what I’m looking for an what questions I should be asking about the dog but what I’m not sure about is verifying there an honest breeder an I’ll get what I’m paying for. I live in the US an a lot of people say I should shop for one here but in the last 8 month of looking in the US I’ve almost been ripped off twice an the prices I’ve been given scare me so I could really use some good feed back about my troubles thanks

Hi.You can start by looking up RipOff reports about the websites of the breeders you are considering, including looking at PDB's 'scams' forum. [Forum List on left.]

There are no guarantees about this, but I generally find that if people willingly answer all your questions about the dogs and their health history and the process of getting them to you etc, they are going to also be genuine in their dealings with you. So make sure you get acceptable checkable answers to your questions about what you are looking for in a pup; and be prepared always to walk away if something (anything) makes you uneasy.

All of this advice applies not just to sellers in eastern Europe, but to breeders in America, and everywhere.

look for people who are reliable, who have competed and long-time breeders

Thanks for the reply’s people :) I’m very open minded so it all helps an I feel the same way about making choice that if someone is willing to take the time to answer all my questions right an in a timely fashion an knows all about shipping the dog to me an has supplied all the videos I’ve ask for maybe it’s worth a try an well if they get me at least I’ll have made them earn it :) im Not sure if I’m allowed to ask if you guys know the person I’m considering going through cause I’ve been in contact with a guy an I’m happy how it’s gone so far an he seems ok with the fact I’m being super causious an takeing my time on this deal

Plenty of people do run breeders' names past here, to see if regulars know of them; nothing (nasty or otherwise) has to be public, you can ask for members' comments via the Private Message system rather than open posting.

Ok cause the guy I’m in contact with says he’s not the owner just a good friend cause the owner doesn’t speak English witch would make sense to an he’s says he owns a female out of the female I’m looking into I’m thinking he’s kinda like a broker for the owner considering he speak English an lives in Czech rep. I’ve only got his first name so far just haven’t ask for his last yet do you have any knowledge of Czech breeders ?

That dog is not in any database I can find. It is named after the actor who played Hercules in a TV series, so we don't even have a kennel name to look up.    https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0969488/

Do you know the names of the parents/grandparents? Does the breeder have a kennel name?

Need more info on the dog before anyone can comment.
 

Sunny the name Josef kralik  is the name of the owner not the dog I believe.

josef kralik is a long time breeder and he bred some nice dogs along the way, he only speaks czech, if you pm the info I can help you out if you want
