Tobi-
Thanks for posting that vid of Flambeau des Legendaires Lanova
It was a joy to watch.
The decoy did great work too and brought out the best in the dog.
But I agree, that vertical wall is negligent and imo should be revised too. GS are not built for that kind of anatomical movement/pressure and it would have nothing to do with making things easier...just to make them more anatomically safe. One could counter with walls being a fact of life in pp/LE work, but that doesnt make em safe to climb and jump in sport.

2m. vertical wall was a standard and never been a problem for GSDs to climb over it.
also never seen dog was injured because jumped over.
b.t.w. nice dog in video. pretty much looks very like my last dog Siegie, except light marks on cheeks

Good to hear Valk that no dog you’ve seen has been injured.

Climbing is the easy part...its the coming down again. (I know you mean the whole exercise).
Even the vid shows this dog coming down and landing on his neck vertebrae at almost a 90 degree angle. Elbows couldn’t hold him upon landing.

i don't know Jessie, perhaps it should be addressed to vets and to those who have greater knowledge about dog's
anatomy in depth, than me.
i just can say what i know from practical experience. by reverting to my dog, i mentioned above, he from very young
age discovered alternative way to exit the house with closed door, jumping up on kitchen countertop and through open
window into backyard. window in that house were about 7~8 feets above concrete patio and when i saw this first time,
i was concerned but seems he didn't found such method to be unpleasant or painful as he did repeat it on several more
occasions.
landing on the ground shouldn't be more worse than on concrete, and that's what happens at typical exercises.

I joined a really nice local club that did French Ring because the closest IPO club was a 4 hour drive round trip. My male showline GSD (Remo.son) was a bit bigger than the Mals and Dutchies, so he would fall behind in the agility portion. But he had the drive and focus for the protection phase, and we all had fun working with him.

Years ago I seem to recall Vegas du haut Mansard being Ring 1 before he was listed as a having a SchH title.

Ringsport accepts the BH in place of the Brevet, but the Brevet has so much more to it than the BH that it might actually be closer to an IPO1.

Anyway, the big Male GSDs would not have the stamina and agility for the more advanced phases of ringsport.

GSD who do good in ring seem to be a lot A LOT stronger and more serious than shutzund gsd. I dont know why this is as both are sports. BUT EVERY gsd who excells in ring seems to be amazing at real protection but shutzund 3 dogs even one i own would crap itself in real life situations.

OP why did you get big male gsd? Why not get something serious like a female? LOL i love men how they need a male gsd and think it is tough and bad when you put it with a tough female they will cry and run like a chicken.

Pink if you cannot be polite then please do not post. This kind of crap is not wanted or needed. This has so far been and excellent thread, take the time to read and learn  bashing and mud slinging is not wanted.

Ringsport guarding is not real naturaLguarding its a leaned exercise same as KNPV,IPO etc etc
they have done this same exercise hundreds time ,some dogs have good natural guarding some
are fake most experience trainers/handlers can see what is serious and what isn,t

(Original ringsport is not made for GSD  its made for malinois)
