I am bringing this here for the groups opinion. I recently bought a dog from overseas that was sold to me as oversized (43-45kg). When he arrived he weighed just under 30kg and he is not thin. ( I went to two different digital scales to confim this) Im well aware of what the trip can do to some dogs especially more nervous ones but this guy is pretty calm. A few pounds, okay but from 45-30? Thanks half of his "reported" weight. Your thoughts?

The weight was with crate ,I guess.

30 kilograms is not 'half' of 43 to 45 kg - that would be twice 30 = 60.
If you can't do simple arithmetic, why be surprised if people you buy from cannot, either ?

If I were feeling really unkind I'd probably say it serves you right for trading in oversize-to-Standard dogs anyway. In a more charitable mood, I'll just ask:
Did you do your 'homework'; did you check out the seller properly (here, RipOff Reports, etc etc ) before you purchased; was it someone you have dealt with before; have you anything in writing which contracts to send you a dog which weighs circa 44 kilos, (and not measured once inside his air crate as Shatterhand suggests !); & are you sure the seller meant kilos (ie not pounds) in the original ad ???

What do you think our opinion might benefit you, Mike ? I'm sure PDB can not & will not 'police' ads here on the off-chance someone sells a dog at one weight but with some unstated intent to let it travel at a different weight, the mods do not have access to a crystal ball that I'm aware. You could do what others are encouraged to do and post details on the appropriate 'scams' forum. If the dog is emaciated you might get a veterinarian to say so. You might consult a lawyer. None of those courses of action require input from fellow breed enthusiasts on the Internet.

So, the bases of your post is, you want to know if a dog can lose between 13 kg - 15 kg during shipping?

Oversized or overweight ???

30/45 kg = 66,66%

You could ask for 33, 34% of the money you paid ....
No, kidding, be glad you got a dog at all.

30 kgs is good for a female, not much for a male.
Gender? Size?

mike817 said that his dog lost half the weight. He may have been looking at the 30 pounds that he now weighs and since he lost 15 pounds that is half of the 30 pounds that he now weighs.

Some of those answers (borderline rude)  to (not reading the post completely) sure makes members feel good about coming here and ask questions.

He bought a dog that was advertised to be over sized 45 kg (his choice) and that when he received the dog HE weighed 35 kg.

The OP may be asking for help, in as, to what actions he may be able to take to get what he paid for.

In case the parents are DNAed he may DNA test the dog he recieved...that's at least something you can work with.

Western, "just under 30 and not thin", not "35" -
We neither know the gender nor the seize.... He paid for 45 kg - guess he could send this dog back in case he has any written vet documents from the day of arrival, but for what?
Shipping fees ( maybe more expensive than the dog itself ), the seller some where far away, maybe a broker involved, most probably a National club that doesn't want to get involved, and on and on...

susie size and gender stated

"When he arrived he weighed just under 30kg and he is not thin."

agree with the rest.

Sorry for the 30-35, 35 was from another communication with OP
