Thanks, Jenni. And what would you use to worm a litter of puppies under 6 weeks old?

Fenbendazole is the same as Panacur, right? Do I use the same dosage for a pregnant dog as I would with one who is not pregnant?

Same thing for pups. I deworm at 2.5-3 weeks if it's an import litter (they are all full of worms, even if their mother seems fine), otherwise 4 weeks is the first deworming. 3 days of 1cc of the goat wormer per 5lbs. I overdose a bit (a pinch, a tad, lol...no real scientific measurement but 1cc is the smallest amount I would give a pup.) It's far preferable to slightly overdose than to underdose.

Thanks! Is it safeguard brand that you use? Is it liquid or paste? Do you need to buy an extra syringe for dosing?

For little pups, yes, I use the Safeguard goat dewormer. If you want to be super sanitary, yes, extra syringes. I kind of figure if one has something, they all have something, so I don't stress too much about the syringes.

For adults, I use the granules. People totally underdose them by using paste, just adjusting the dosage for weight. They go and deworm multiple dogs with one tube of horse dewormer, not realizing that the paste is a 10% suspension, and the granules are a 22.2% suspension, so you don't save money using horse paste for dogs, not to mention the joys of making a grown dog eat the majority of a tube of paste :D

Nemex 2 is a better wormer to use on puppies under 6 weeks. It is one dose and is better for killing roundworms especially in young puppies. Then at 6 & 8 weeks use the Safeguard liquid

Thank you. So is it safe to worm anytime during the pregnancy, like around day 50-55, or is that too late in the pregnancy?

Just an FYI...Nemex 2 hasn't worked in decades.
