I just recently realized that 2 of my dogs are already listed here under profile that is not mine. Is there any way to move them under my account? i can prove the ownership by purchase contract or by a copy of pedigree if necessary.

Thanks for help or any advice.

What many members do not realize is that ANYONE can add a dog to PDB. They do not have to own the dog. And once they add a dog to PDB, they OWN THE PEDIGREE for that dog.

If you as the owner of the DOG, wish to add or correct something, you can ask for edit access to that dogs pedigree, but you can not get ownership of the pedigree.

If you think about it, how would anyone be able to add a pedigree if only the owner of the dog was able to add the dog. That means that you could only add your new pup, but the owners of the sire and the dam would have to add them, And then the owners of the grandparents would have to add them, and probably by the time that you got to the great grandparents, nobody would be able to add them because the original owners would be long dead.

So think of it this way. You own the dog, but the person who enters the dog in PDB owns the pedigree......along with PDB...AS PDB OWNS ALL PEDIGREES.

The PDB and everything on it is protected by copyright laws, that's not the same thing as "owning" the pedigrees.

Why do some of you members always have to have a rebuttal. I'm not a lawyer, I was simply trying to help someone understand why any one can enter a dogs information.
Who really owns a pedigree? The owner, The organization that issued it..... No-one really owns a pedigree........ or many people/orgs own the pedigree.
I am just saying that PDB has the right to make any changes or deletions to any pedigree entered on its site.

Oli has this posted on every pedigree just above where you may ask for edit rights because there were so many members thinking that he who entered the pedigree and then was listed as owner meant that they were the ones feeding it.

Note that this simply means who controls the information in pedigreedatabase.com and does not reflect actual or physical ownership

Fact is that Registration papers are owned by the Breed Registry that issues them and they can cancel those papers at anytime. Owners and breeders know this as it has happened in the past and will in the future if it is found the dog is not who they are suppose to be. Now why do you believe that Germany and other countries require proof of DNA on dogs before they will Register them? Now in the case of AKC this is not required but breeders will DNA for parentage when there is is question on a breeding.

There are some cases that breeders will DNA for color but not parentage.

Example:
