Is there any advantages to having a GSD from z Pohranicni straze lines?

Yes, I know there are a ton of variables. But all things being equal, does

this old Czech border patrol line bring anything to the table?

Thanks!

It's border not boarder.

their dogs, founded on the true stock of East Germany and were equal to, in respect of a german shepherds desirable qualities.
sadly as of today z PS more a commercial trademark than exceptional quality. but if you can find "old school" breeder, who has descendants of z PS and does the breeding because devotion, rather than quantity for sale, then definitely such dogs is worth to have.

generally speaking, their dogs were bred for other purpose than scoring points, different level of drives,so if todays breeder is simply having some names way back in the pedigree or is still looking for said balance of drives and selecting on that makes a big difference,

but some breeders still do breed old style dogs based on old lines but they are not the ones with the famous sport names on the pedigreesWink Smile

As others have hinted at, any "advantage" depends on what you want from your dog, as generally the old z PS lines were not bred for sport work.

I have 2 GSD's - my female is from sport lines and is almost purely prey driven, never would have counted on her to protect me from anything other than an attacking deer, lol. My male is from Cz lines, including z PS, and he is both our property protector and my personal protector. When I go outside in the bush (especially at night to close our gate - we have acreage in the sticks of wild BC), he is the one that I take to keep me safe from the wandering bears, etc. (big bears lately going to neighbours fruit trees through our yard to fatten up for winter).

Thank you Valk, Duke and Koots for your replies.

I appreciate it.

Mostly for property protector and personal protection.

I don't need to score any points. Smile.

Looking for some solid lines for this rather than a

training that "defensed" a dog until he appeared

formidable.

for that you don't need anything special with z PS roots.
plenty of dogs could serve as deter factor against property break-in.
