Nice work good puppy. detection and tracking are by far the most important properties for police and miltary K9 today .

What scent do you have in that plastic baskets?

Thanks. Target odor is TNT, the rest have distraction odors. Food (Hot dogs & kibble), nitril gloves, plastic bags and chew treats.

Just curious. Was showing the dog that you are switching now a deliberate move?

This is just one of many "switches". Usually i will move all the tubes and a "shell game" is conducted to do several sets of finds. Everything at this point (imprinting stage) is free shaped and simple with few distractions, i may try to lure the pup away or distract from the target odor with the food in my hand or call her. Or make a bang sound but at this stage that is the extent of the difficulty. At this point making switches out of sight is not necessary.

Unfortunately this wasnt the best example of a shell game switch usually its made more complicated or confusing by moving all the tubes but even though this "switch" wasnt very difficuly by only moving two, I did lure the pup to my hand with food first which did throw her off.

Also having the pup watch can be stimulating as she anticipates the next find so watching at this stage is a drive builder too.
