I have recently heard some "reputations" of this dog and his lineage. I have always been impressed with the knowledge the members of this board have, especially as it relates to older dogs from the recent past. What information/knowledge can you share as it relates to temperament, drive and if he reproduced himself much in the offspring? Does anyone know about the handler(s) that worked and trained this dog?

It appears to me that this dog had something to offer and am assuming this alphabet soup after his name wasn't a fluke???

All i can talk about is how i see him in some of best pedigrees out there currently in some of the most sucessful ipo dogs including some of the Staatsmacht dogs and dogs of out the Klidkova dvora kennel and im sure there are some others so his strength as a great producer is proven in current generations.A great male to know more about.

If you check the comments on his pedigree page here, one of the posters knew the dog and the fellow who owned him here in the US very well. Might want to see if you can reach her, and pick her brain...I know she had at least one litter from Olex, and she was very fond of the dog for who he was himself, as well as for what he produced. Her kennel is zum Alten Hof.

There were enough people who were acquainted with the dog when he was in the US that I'd be surprised if the info you're seeking isn't readily forthcoming. IIRC, there was frozen semen in storage from Olex that was locked down because the owner hadn't paid the bill, and at least a few folks tried to work out a way to pay it off so they could use it after he passed. Don't know if anyone ever managed to work something out with Olex's owner so the semen could be used or not.

Also the exceptional D and E litters Eisernen Kreuz kennel have a linebreeding 3- 4 on Olex.

I'm only speaking on my own experience (not much), but the dogs I've witnessed with him in the pedigree are "hard" dogs. He's my dog's maternal great-grandsire, and my dog's very serious. He seems like he's a natural for the sport, according to the people at my club. (too bad he's stuck with a novice trainer like me. :'( ). Strong grips, doesn't let go. Territorial. Pushy. Confident. Aggressive. Calm in the house and in the crate. He's also really goofy and loves to be loved on. :) He's a real pleasure to be around, and I'm glad I got the chance to be his owner. He's definitely different than my "sporty" dogs I've had. He's not as needy, more independent, and more suspicious of strangers on the property. For example, I've had people go in my backyard with my other GSD, no issues. People can't even loiter in my front yard if Bosco has anything to say about it. Also, he doesn't "need" to be around me all the time.
