Help - How do I add dogs to my pedigree that is missing?

Give me an example. Include Breed... and dogs name and then sire/dam that you want to add and I'll go through it step by step.

Abby Starr Jaufre II is the pedigree I'm wanting to add a dog to. The dog I'm wanting to add is Jerri Lee Can Kiss An Angel. I'm wanting to place her as Cooper Vom Cummings mom.

Abby Starr Jaufre II has several dogs missing. I have the paper pedigree from AKC and I would like her pedigree to be complete on the database.

Well, here are basic steps. As you become more confident, you can eliminate some of them ( like an initial search to see if dog already on PDB..

1. I would do a pedigree search to see if Jerri Lee Can Kiss An Angel and the dogs that you want to enter are already on the database. It is helpful to only input part of the name because of the many misspellings, so I would only enter Jerri Lee Can or Can Kiss An Angel. She is on the database.

Step 2/3 are how you would normally do it, but we are having problems with this as PDB is not recognizing duplicate names, so skip to 2A

2. Do a pedigree search for Cooper Vom Cummings. Then click on

3.Scroll down to Parents, and in the mother box type the name of the dam Jerri Lee Can Kiss An Angel.  The name will pop up and you select it.

You get this

Type in dams name EXACTLY as you found it.  Jerri Lee Can Kiss An Angel

Clck on Green arrow, and pedigree should fill in.  Then you have to do this for each dog that you want to fill in.  If data is missing, you can go back and fill it in.  That is usually the easiest for me.

If dog that you want to add is not in the database, you should be able to use steps 2 and 3, as we seem to only be having trouble with adding sire/dam when they are already in the database.

This may seem complicated, but it really is not.  I tried to make it as simple as possible and probably made it look difficult.

After adding each dog, you should refresh the screen. This verifies that what you entered is correct and clears the way for the next step.

Thank you so much for the information. I have done exactly what you said to do and when I click the green arrow, it comes back as no information about the dam. I know Jerri Lee Can Kiss An Angel is in the database.

I already added Jerri Lee Can Kiss An Angel as dam of Cooper Vom Cummings.... but it disappeared.  Let me do it again.

I'm sorry for these problems. Perhaps it is best not to work on pedogrees until we get this problem fixed.  If it's important that you have the pedigree finished, send me the info and I will add it.
