Why not import from the former east? It's not that difficult to get a puppy out of old working lines and titled parents.

Hello, I am new to PDB, but not to the dog fancy.
I too have been looking for a WL pup for almost a year and finally found a pup that I really like. The advantage that I have is I live in Germany (American) close to the once "old eastern block" and Czech.
You can try working dogs.eu It is a European site that has data on all of the dogs under the FCI.
Once you have entered the site, go to "breeds", then "view litter plan", from there click on "race" and enter "short-hair German Shepherd". After you have high-lighted and click on that tab, go to "federation", the drop down menu will give you options, check "FCI countries". The last step is "country", type in "Czech". The system will give you all the upcoming litter plans in the country chosen under the master registry. My advice to you is leave your options open. There are very goods dogs in Germany under the SV. What I have learnt in my research is that the health issues are well documented under the SV. Once last note: I visited quite a few breeders, to physically see the dam and sire. It was a bit costly, but I did it for a couple of reasons. 1. Do the parents fit the criteria you want (physically/mentally)? 2. Speak with the breeder. Well reputable breeders are very particular on who gets their bloodlines. If someone claims they wanted a puppy to work (as I did) then they want their breeding titled. Remember some of these breeders will come back to "down the road" for a pup, because line breeding is practiced artfully in Germany (EU). Good Luck

To the OP.... I second Malinda Weber of Weberhaus. She has some good Eastern stock..which she mixes with Czech lines on most occasions but has a Xoran daughter that she has done pure east litters with. She titles her dogs and does Hips/Elbows/DM for health testing. Cares deeply about her dogs and where they are placed. Sells on limited but will grant full registration to those who title to an IPO1 and have passing hip/elbows. She owns Iwan vom Poppitz and Arek Von der Wedheme (spelling..). Both V rated and both IPO3 titled. Iwan produces very well..

I know from past postings that many here don't care for them but you might want to check out Kreative K9 in California.
I purchased a West German/Czech pup from them last year to replace a male that was trained as PPD then titled to Schutzhund II.
He's a very nice dog. Nice drives, level headed, environmentally sound.
Currently working LE K9 trainer, who has offered to buy him if I don't like him.

The Staatsmacht kennel has some of best working bloodlines currently ...
not only in the usa but the world so if your buying a 2000 dollar pup here by the time you pay airfare etc the price buying in europe is close to same and so much less of a headace when buying in usa.

Bundishep, how would you fit Staatsmacht in traditional czech or east lines
