Kalibeck

by Kalibeck on 15 August 2016 - 14:08

To all the old timers here who know or knew Kim Haegely of Kistha Haus Justk9s; she has apparently lost her home & kennels to a wildfire. She, her dogs & her Mom were evacuated in time, & they haven't allowed her back yet to see with her own eyes, but the road she lived on has been reported as having no buildings left standing on it. She has nothing but the clothes on her & her Moms back. When I can get an address, she'll need help.
And prayers...please pray for her!
Thank you,
jackie harris

What a tragedy! Thank God her family and dogs are safe. Maybe you will set up a GoFund Me acct for her? I would want to help get her by this tough spot, as would many of the other proven and generous hearted PDB community members.

There must be home owners insurance so she can restart?

She has homeowners, but it doesn't cover outbuildings which held all her schutzhund & training & puppy & vet supplies, etc.. We all know how pricey that stuff is. I'm trying to see if there's an address where she could at least receive a dog food shipment, she has 17 hungry dogs with her in her truck.
I'm sure she's going to need a go-fund-me page, but a couple of her local friends are trying to get her mom & dogs settled with a friend so she can go back whenever they allow it to see if anything is left. I saw 2 videos of her street taken by a firefighter, I guess. There just wasn't anything but ashes. 😞
I tried posting a couple videos, couldn't do it.
Anyway, I can't imagine how she must feel.

Plus for now she hasn't even got clothes! That's got to suck!

Western Rider

Hopefully she gets signed up with Red Cross first thing they will provide some immediate clothes.

Then confirm her house is gone and contact her Home owners agent. Don't wait until the fire is over and then she can draw money for clothes and other essentials.

This is from experiece.

A go fund me page perhaps connected to her facebook page as well so that even more can help out.

I would like to add  if she wants to rent a place do it now before others take them all if she would rather live on the property go rent a mobile home to move on it before they are gone.

Glad to hear she and her dogs are safe. Nice looking sables!

Her Facebook page with what will likely be more up to date info.

Kennel insurance does cover buildings and equipment if you have it. It is a separate insurance. Homeowners and rental insurance do not cover large numbers of pets or business kennel operations. In many places more than 6 dogs capable of reproduction is considered a business and requires licensing. Liability, buildings, and equipment for a business will not be covered on homeowners. Something to keep in mind if you have a large group of dogs for any purpose.

OMG: Glad she and family and family of dogs are Okay; of course we say they are OK but she is probably just devastated as anyone would be in this situation. We had to evacuate once which was unnecessary; and almost once again but did not have to during second fire which 13 year old girl started. I forget in 2007 what caused that one but was horrific. A very scarey feeling I know...Seems you never have enough diseaster insurance to cover one thing or another or all. Nan
