The official opening of the sixth World Championship of Universal German shepherds was held on Thursday 16 June 2016 at the Festival Hall in the Park of Neue Schloss in Paderborn. The organizers - the Land group of East Westphalia prepared a colorful ceremony, which was held in a friendly atmosphere with all taking part in the Championship national teams. The parade took place under the national anthems. The national teams of Belgium, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Canada, Norway, Austria, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey, United States of America and Germany went along, the captains with the national flags went in front of the teams. Then we heard the welcome speeches of the President of SV and WUSV Dr. Heinrich Meßler, the Head of the group of Eastern Westphalia and the Organizing Committee of the Championship Mr. Gerd Dexel. Championship Participants were welcomed by Chief Judge Egon Gutknecht (Germany), Deputy chief judge Günther Diegel (Germany), the judge in the show ring Lothar Quoll (Germany), the supervisor Peter Mayerl (Austria), the Judge in section "A" Ernst Riegl (Austria), the Judge of section "B" Raino Flügge (Canada), the Judge section "C" Hari Arcon (Slovenia) and other respected people.
