Entwerfer Haus

by Entwerfer Haus on 16 June 2016 - 15:06

  1. I have every email to support this occurrence
  2. Just because your dogs are titled, doesn’t make every pup breed/stud worthy
  3. Websites are very deceiving
  4. Untitled dogs can produce working pups

02/27/13 – I contact Constance Krebs looking for a female.  She was full on deposits, but told me she’d like to keep my email, that she was looking for another breeding bitch.

04/02/13 – Constance contacted to let me know she found a female, Tosca, and had her coming the following day and that she was hoping to have a pup for me by summer.  I also mentioned during that chain of emails that I’d be looking for a male the follow year, as mine was closing in on 7.

04/08/13 – Constance begins asking for a deposit (anticipating a May heat).  I asked to see her pedigree, etc. etc.  Trusting this person, I sent $1250 on 04/11/16 and the remaining balance ($550 for 2nd pick) on 05/03/16.  I was working crazy big time and just wanted it out of the way.  I was going to drive and pick her up.

04/23/13 – Constance asks if I’d like pick female from this litter (even though prior she told me she reserves pick for working homes; an additional $200), someone was moving to another litter.  I declined, because I believe pick should go to working homes and right now, I’m not able to do any extensive training.

07/04/13 – I contact Constance to check on the status of heat with Tosca.  She tells me ‘she is the rock of good health’ and should come into heat soon.

08/07/13 – Constance informs me Tosca is [finally] in heat.

09/02/13 – Constance inform me that Tosca was bred a week ago.

09/06/13 – Constance tells me that Tosca is 11 days in and if she was a guessing woman, she’s pregnant.

10/09/13 – I check in to see how things are; 10/10/13 she responds that ‘she sent everyone email’, Tosca isn’t pregnant and it’s all her fault on the timing.  Now I’m guessing it was AI?  Also, the vet told her she is perfectly health based on the ultrasound and can be bred again with her next heat in February.

02/26/14 – I touch base with Constance regarding the heat cycle, thinking I may have not received the email again, she states, ‘she has a blown coat, she is just waiting now and she thinks the weather is throwing everyone off…

03/25/14 – Constance contacts me and tells me she’s breeding Tosca to Ajax today and Thursday, she’ll confirm pregnancy with ultrasound and let me know.

04/22/14 – Constance confirmed the pregnancy, that the ultrasound showed what she thought were 5 pups, 4-6.

05/22/14 – Tosca produced 4 males (3 survived).  I asked if there were any males available, since Granit is 8 now and it would be easier to get a female from the fellas in FL I got my other girls from.  She told me she’s ‘sold out through next year’.  She is going to breed Tosca immediately again and she could put me up for 2nd pick male from her next litter.

06/02/14 – Tosca had fetal distress with her last litter and had to have a C-section, so she wasn’t going to breed her immediately again. She knocked me back to 3rd pick, even though I’ve paid for 2nd.  She then stated, if this breeding doesn’t work out, she’ll gladly give me pick male for all my patience, from her next breeding (spring 2015). I elected to wait. My male was still viable and passing his vet checks with flying colors…but getting old.

09/28/14 – Tosca just went out of heat, so next heat (as I agreed to) with be spring and she wants to breed her to another male, not Ajax.  I agreed.  Chash, a better male imo anyway.  Plus, if I wanted to, I could go back to her for a female.

12/04/14 – I notice she’s bred Bruna to Ajax so I inquire about a female.  I cannot find the email, but I put in for a female.  All I can see is that she put me 3rd in line, claiming all her litters are fairly uniform and not a ‘bad one in the bunch’.  My concern, of course, was upsetting my applecart with an over the top bitch coming into play here.  Mine aren’t kennel dogs.

03/30/15 – I touch base to see if Tosca has gone into heat yet.  Not yet, should be soon.

06/03/15 – Tosca has not come into heat yet and she’s not sure why because she’s healthy.

06/24/15 – Constance tells me she’s bred Bruna to 2 males, so I won’t know who the sire is of my anticipated 3rd pick female.

07/06/15 – Tosca should be bred to Chash this week.

08/04/15 – Tosca’s uterus is shot. No male, no pup from her…ever.  After 2 years of waiting and drama and exercising extreme patience I requested pick male from Bruna as she promised from Tosca (Granit, my male is pushing 9 now).  She tried to shove me off on her friend who has Czech dogs, knowing I breed 100% DDR, that she had 3 people waiting for males, even though she has TWO dogs pregnant.  Yzett (Czech / WG) and Bruna (her only breeding DDR female and it’s her last litter).  She had the nerve to say, ‘but we both knew going into this that Tosca was a risk…she is just not a breakable female.  I tried’.  All she did was boast about how healthy Tosca is and her vet confirmed the same. This is when her true colors began to come out.  I reminded her of the same and told her, that after 2+ years I’m only asking to be satisfied with a Bruna male and that I’m sure her other buyers would understand (probably pet homes, move them to Yzett, who by the way had 11 puppies)

08/17/15 – Constance tells me she has another DDR that she’ll breed in the future, but ‘when she got here, she was afraid of everything.  I have had to wait her out to see if it is a genetic issue or lack of training/socialization overseas.  She appears to have been abused, as well and if she can get a herding certificate on her, she’ll breed her’  Ya, that’s who I want a breeding dog from…wow

08/18/15 – Bruna goes through a C-section and she offers me 2nd pick (she told me she was keeping a female).  I reluctantly agree, because I know I’ll be left with nothing if I don’t or have to take a pup from an unstable female.  What a liar, but still, I am optimistic that the pups will be, ‘fairly uniform’ and out of the 2 I can go home with a decent male.  Dates the registration app for litter birth of 08/19/15.

Constance is now retired and has plenty of time for her ‘kennel’, if she chooses.

08/28/15 – I start planning the trip.  My travel partners (buyers with 2 of my pups) work, so I’m trying to get the heads up on a date.  I’m told every Saturday is spoken for and October 11th is a good date.

09/08/15 – I see on her site she has Ajax as the established father, but she’s told me she doesn’t have the DNA back yet and it should be soon.

10/10/15 – I have to ask her for her number in case we can’t find her easily.

10/11/15 – Now the fun begins.  We did get lost a bit. J.  After texts and dropped calls and her complaining that we’re ‘early’ (hey, I just drove 5 hours, really?) I pull up to her home, seemingly nice place surrounding by trees. We go around the back of her house where the litters are.  2 litters in mud holes, 1 more so than the other because it’s a much smaller area.  I would imagine that at one point, they were decent kennels, but not anymore and the sad part is, there is an entirely different area she could exercise them in, to avoid them beating down their area…She did make the statement that 2 litters was too much and she’ll never do it again. Okie dokie.  The male I wanted, she was sending to Germany, it wasn’t even for one of the other buyers who had waited a year and the other 6 months, it was for HER.  My guess is and I could be wrong, she trade Omen for that pup.  She sends dogs to some guy in Germany and get a titled dog to breed, is what it appears to me.  Moving on; so I had to choose from a big guy or a tiny hyper male (so much for ‘fairly uniform’).  Unbelievable that she thinks all her pups are breed worthy.  I’m trying to replace a stud of TEN YEARS, a Walko son.  By the unbalanced size and disposition of this litter, I would say it’s an Omen litter, but hey, what do I know.  Anyway, we go to see Yzett’s litter, whom she so lovingly calls, ‘the crazies’, further around the back.  I immediately notice a pup with both front legs shaved.  She tells me it was from a heart ultrasound.  Both litters are on antibiotics for worms, but she doesn’t have any to send home with me.  My litter has coccidia. Nice! We all know how that needs to be treated, yet, no meds.  One girl, wouldn’t even lift her head, she was so sick with worms.  She said, ‘oh, she’ll be OK’.  I’ve had it before, I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but I’m sure she gets it a lot in that environment.  I’m keeping her oblivious to my distrust at this point. The lies start coming out left and right, from when she sent off the DNA to screwing me out of 1st pick.  As we’re chatting, she starts bad mouthing other kennels. Ironically enough I find out a few days before the trip she’s good friends with another ‘big kennel breeder’ that’s ripped off several people, me for one.  When I inquired about Tosca and seeing her, she said that she’s in Iowa and I expressed that I was happy she had a permanent home.  She states, “I hope so” and further in the visit, and I don’t remember how it came up, but she stated that she had, ‘tried again’ with Tosca.  Really? Uterus shot?  That was when I knew, she could never be trusted, ever.  I ask to see the adults. Oh boy!  They were in kennels, yes more mud holes, I see maybe ONE water pail and they’re filthy and horrible coats.

First kennel; the ‘abused dog’ who she eventually let out and immediately ducked and hit the ground and really didn’t listen to her at all, poor dog just wanted to run around and exercise.

Second kennel; I believe it was Ajax and an old female, vicious bitch.  Poor Ajax had a cauliflower ear from a hematoma (I had one before, so no biggy), that she took care of herself… and looked at me like, please get me out of here.

Third kennel; was a decent looking female, very slim head for a DDR though that she said she will be breeding, Dana maybe.  She never mentioned her through all of this.

Last kennel; Omen and Bruna.  Omen was bobbing up and down as if he was on a pogo stick, definitely had some cabin fever going on.  At this point it’s obvious she in over her head.  She must let them out once a month and take some decent photos to post on her site.

Don’t hold me to the kennel order, but I’m pretty close!  Pick up a brush!

These kennels were broken down, boards blocking holes in the fencing that the dogs have damaged due to ‘fence fighting’.

At this point I just wanted to figure out which pup I wanted and get back home!  We go back to the first pen and I ask for her to get the big guy out and we take him and the female she’s sending to Germany (yes, she kept 2 pups back, even though she states she has so many people waiting she’s sold out through the year) uh huh.  He’s shy, but I can do some confidence training and see how things go.  I presume at this point we’ll go into the house, fill out any necessary paperwork, I’ll get shot records, etc.  Ya, that wasn’t going to happen.  She had NO paperwork for me, not even tentative.  No shot records because, she only gives shots when she ‘has to’ and again, no meds.  She just kept harping on the fact that I needed to get him Albon because she ‘knows’ its coccidia.  I finally had to tell her, I know what treats coccidia that I’ve been doing this 13 years.  Then as we’re trying desperately to get in the car and get out, she decides to open her garage and show us Yzett, who was obviously being kept in a large plastic crate.  Nice dog, decent temperament, but unbrushed and locked in a crate. Love it!  You have 100k worth of vehicles in that garage, but can’t brush, exercise or water a dog. Impressive!

Again, I leave and she thinks I’m happy!

10/15/15 – Needless to say, I immediately get him to the vet on Monday.  Yes, coccidia and they notice a back (one) dew claw.  Did she miss it when removing others? Who knows?  I’ve never had back dew claws on pups, but whatever.  I’m in the hole yet another 400ish dollars for surgery, meds and follow-up.  I give her an update (which included only 1 testicle dropped at this point) and requested in the email that she confirm the missing paperwork to be provided.

10/30/15 – She states ‘When I receive the information, everyone will be informed and receive the appropriate paperwork’.  That’s vague and again, I do not trust this person anymore, at all.

12/12/15 – I follow-up for a status update on all the paperwork. She starts going on and on, telling more lies about when she sent the paperwork in and how long it takes.  All I wanted was a status update.  Have you followed up? Has any contact been made?  You tell me on 09/08/15 you sent it off a couple weeks again and it is now more than 3 months later for a process you claim takes 6-8 weeks.  At least remember what you’ve said previously!

I’m no longer pretending to be happy. Does she have to keep me in the loop of all her dealings?  Absolutely not, but then keep your mouth shut, because I WILL remember and keep ALL correspondence.

01/12/16 – Still no paperwork.  Now she’s talking about only giving me limited registration because I won’t answer her about his testicle.  It’s none of her business and her contract states 1 year to drop and all pups will be fully registered.  So, being the nice person I am J I send her a copy of her own contract.  I bought a male with 1 descended testicle before, back when I first started breeding and the breeder certainly didn’t disclose it being a fault. She only stated ‘he won’t be a big breeding stud’.  Yes, that’s her friend.

01/14/16 – She blocks me from emails. (mature huh?)  She needs to get it together.

01/21/16 – She sends me an email that the paperwork is being sent out tomorrow. (hey, it only took her FIVE months) which would be fine, just tell the truth!

01/21/16 – She needs my address.

01/22/16 – She’s found my address.

05/02/16 – Jaegar is not stud material and that’s painfully obvious (unless you had a solid over the top bitch you wanted to bring down a peg or two), but unless she balances out the litter, you’ll get all sizes and dispositions.  His littermates were so unbalanced in personality, drive and disposition, it was sad.  I’m not sure which parent is to blame, but my guess would be Omen.  I’ve put a TON of work into Jaegar and now he’s a decent dog, pet quality.  Again, titled parents to not produce ALL breeding offspring.  And just for the record, untitled parents DO produce working pups.  Know your lines, keep the good blood flowing, help the breed.  Anyway, I offer the dog back to her.  I have a 1st rights of refusal clause in my agreement and I wanted to afford her the same.  It’s the ‘right’ thing to do.

What a mistake. She’s starts going on and on about ‘what’s wrong with him’.  Omg lady, you are really not that stupid?  Again, this woman thinks all her pups are stud/breeder quality and that’s just delusional thinking. I try to stop her on several occasions from the drama and to either take him back or I’ll sell him.  Finally she offered to meet me half way, take the dog back and I’d have to wait for payment (she doesn’t have the money right now) until she sold him. LOL, she must think my head screws on and off.  Also, she must have come out of retirement because she told me she was working every day and I am pretty sure it wasn’t at her own kennel!!  During this back and forth of emails, she kept trying to tell me what was said and not said.  Soooo, I started forwarding her all her lies.  Needless to say, it finally shut her up.

Did I get ripped off?  Is this fraud?  Most would say, probably not, so I won't post in that forum.  Did I get what I signed up for?  Absolutely not.  Could I have asked for my money back when it clearly stated no refunds, even though things were going south and fast?  Yes and I’m sure she would have refused with even more excuses.  I mean, instead of offering me my money back, she tried to shove me off on some friend of hers that didn’t even have what I’ve been looking for.  But what I will tell you is she is a hot mess. Her dogs are questionable and her breeding practices worse.  Her website is a false representation of her practices.  Prayer of ST Francis on the front page.  Lol.  If you want to spend 2k for a pet, go see Connie and pray they’re stable and healthy, but don’t count on it.  If you want a nice breeding dog, STEER CLEAR of this lying crook.  She’s selfish and clueless.  She doesn’t care about getting the right dog in the right hands to save her life and she’ll try to lie her way out of everything.  Perhaps she’s had nice breeding dogs in the past, but that’s NOT the case now.  Shame on her.

I’ll lose about $1700 on this dog, and that doesn’t even begin to count all of my time with him, but I’ll make sure he goes to a good home.  I’ve had so many trash breeders try to get their hands on him, it’s scary.

No wonder my pups go 90% on referrals or 2nd pups.  That’s what happens when you’re open, honest, supportive, love the breed and do the right thing by the pups and buyers.

It’s nearly impossible to find a reputable breeder, especially in the old school DDR lines, anymore.  You can’t trust anyone, anymore.

What does DDR pending and DDR on file mean in the pedigrees of your dogs? Thanks

by beetree on 16 June 2016 - 18:06

Maybe it means there's still hope for the other ball to drop? Teeth Smile

What drove you to this woman/breeder? Was it really just the pedigree?

You make a statement that not every dog that is titled should be bred...but did you even get the chance to see them work before you decided on a puppy?

This is also the first time I've really heard of any "reputable" breeder thinking that they can guarantee a great stud dog just by looking at a pedigree and then picking one out at 8 weeks from a pen of puppies.

Being in the business yourself, I find it almost comical that you were so quick to send money for a puppy...I guess if the pedigree is that rare and that good it might've been worth it, but I've yet to see a pedigree like that myself.

@ Gigante - Not sure, maybe I entered something wrong.

@ Bavarian - I trusted her breeding practices and believed what she was spewing. I was supposed to be able to pick my pup from an entirely different pair, initially, as I stated. I never said a 'great stud dog'. Please don't put words in my mouth. However, there are things "I" look for and traveling there I intended to check some of those on sight. It turned into one big mess and stream of excuses. When I got there, it was a JOKE and I was stuck. I've got a lot of blood sweat and tears in Jaegar and he's turned around. He's no stud dog and will be neutered and placed if need be.

Anyway, I'm paying the price. I'm just letting people know, she is not as she presents herself and I just found out she's be breeding Bruna to death and her vet apparently will give her unending C-sections. Nice, huh?

I'm glad you're amused

Can't understand why you stuck with this, I'd have demanded my money back at this time last year; and whether I successfully got it all or not, got the hell away from what was quite clearly by then becoming an untenable situation.

by beetree on 16 June 2016 - 22:06

Probably because there was no contract signed stating she could return a one testicled dog.

Entwerfer Haus

by Entwerfer Haus on 16 June 2016 - 22:06

@ Hundmutter - I was really trying to stick it out, because at that point, my male is approaching 9 and one failed pregnancy. I do understand what you're saying, but there is no way she would have given me a dime and it really went south when the pups were born. I made the trip still hoping. I've dealt with other kennels and it had been 4 years since I bothered to even look. My bad, for sure, I'm not denying that. I won't be trusting anymore of these kennel breeders again, unless I can meet them and see it all first.  It's just not worth it. Saddest part is, she thought what she was doing was "OK".

@ beetree - His testicle dropped, I just wasn't telling her. It was in the contract and that's why she was harping on it and tried to give me limited registration. I pretty much threatened her with legal action and she changed her tune and in January finally provided me the paperwork. I really think she was going to try to send me a different contract. I made sure to save hers out at time of payment and check it right before the trip to make sure nothing changed.
