Hi everyone I had my 18 month old female xrayed a few days ago, hip shot is not straight and she is tilted. before I ring the vet would you ask for these to be redone?

Show the vet the ofa pictures so he knows how to position properly....yes, then get new ones.
Dog's left leg is practically shoved to the other side of the pelvis....amazing how many vets don't know how to do this properly.

Thanks, I think the vet must have been having a bad day and usually get great xrays from them just annoyed as I drive 2 hours each way, I usually get to see the disc prior to leaving but not this time.

I think that ofa can see what they want to see but was this dog sore the next day. I would be pissed.

Your dog's hips are fine. Nice looking, in fact. Good muscle, nice round balls, well defined necks.

If you sent that xray in to OFA today, they would probably get a prelim good rating.

Should you have them redone?? No..  not at this time...   why??

Just wait until your dog is old enough to get the official rating.

When you do go in for that xray, make sure you tell the staff that it will be for submission..  also a sedated dog will be easier for them to position, and it will show you a truer picture. Ask them to use a cradle, if they have one.

Always wait and look at your xray before you leave.

Thank you for your comments, Nans no she was not sore the next day, she is quite an athlete loves to run, very fit girl.
Vet did know that they were for submission and she was sedated, the vet was most adamant that the xray was good and that she would pass but I did ask a reader to have a quick look and was told that because of the left tilt she would quite possibly fail on that side for subluxation.

I will redo the xrays but not yet though I am satisfied that she has good hips.

When I have her scored I want the best possible result and the only way to achieve that goal is with the best xrays.

DeWolf the vet did have a surgery waiting and simply gave me the disc with no option for me to view them first. I have used this vet before and never questioned their ability so I was rather angry and surprised when I loaded it up. I do wish this vet would use a cradle then this would not be an issue.

I will post when I have her re xrayed.
