Please help as I am new to this. I did a mating check on a puppy I would like to buy and in Linebreeding it came up with a dog at 5-5, another at 4-5, another at 4-5 and one more at 3-4.  The one at 3-4 is Ursus von Batu which I have been reading about.  Just wondering if I should be  concerned.  I do not know anything about linebreeding.  I just want to find a good companion/protector.  Any help would be appreciated.

That is not a close enough line breeding to be concerned in my opinion. I start to take a closer look at say a 3-3 or so. Should't be a problem from what you describe. Many are breeding that closely on Ursus with nice results. I would be most interested in the sire and dam, and how they are themselves. Good luck! Theresa

Thank you so much for responding.  The dam has just one 5-5, the sire has a 5-4 & 5-4.  I'm trying to do all my research before I buy the puppy.  I had a great GSD that died (old) last March.  He was absolutey wonderful but I didn't pick him.  He was police narcotics dog diagnosed with hip dysp. at just over a year and my husband (cop) offered to take him rather than department put him down.  Best dog in the world, although my sons couldn't bring some friends over cause he'd attach himself to their pockets.  I know you take a chance with every puppy but i just don't want the cards stacked against me off the bat. These puppies look so wonderful along with the breeder.

Super! And good for you for doing your research! May I ask who the breeder is? I am just curious. You can PM if you don't want to make it public. Theresa
