I'm looking for a recommendations for a great breeder in Southern California. Ideally, a red/black German show lines is what I'd love, but health and temperament is all I need. I've seen some proposed contracts that have been pretty discouraging, effectively removing any and all responsibility from the breeders to produce healthy dogs, or charging a significant amount and only providing limited registration. Truthfully, I'm not a breeder, nor do I plan to be, but I don't want to be told that I have to have a dog sterilized before they turn 18 months after paying a sizable amount for a dog is a big turnoff. Sorry for the minor rant there.... I know there is a lot of knowledge on this site, so if anyone has a trustworthy breeder of healthy, sound dogs, that they can recommend, I would really appreciate the advice. Thanks!

Hard to recommend without knowing what you want the dog for. Companionship, show, work, service-dog, protection?
My tastes run to working lines, there are not as many black & reds in that subset, but there are a few very reliable breeders in California, maybe not Southern, but Valley. Health is a priority, but all have contracts & limited registration. It only shows that they care about what happens to their pups. And the breeders I know don't want their pups neutered until 18 months to 2 years, to allow for proper bone growth.
Good luck!

Kreative Kennels, not sure if they are from Southern Californian. I purchased a dog from them five years ago "Livingston N Kreative" and he is on this data base. No health issues.

At the very least do a search of this site about any kennel/person you may have been given a referral about.

I would look all names/kennels up on the map provide on this forum; also contact Clubs/both Sch and Training Clubs; I would personally go see all that are geographically possible for you to see in person and not rely on this forum for recommendations. What is good for one may not be good for another. Best of luck in your search. Nan

Did you check out linda lundborg with Lundborg-Land? Also Randy Tyson with Witmer-Tyson German Shepherds. I haven't read through their contracts but I know they both produce excellent dogs.

There is a big show in Fontana this weekend 21-22 November. I'd reccomend going and seeing what types of dogs and quality the California kennels are producing. :)

RoseMarie Davis, Noroda Kennels about an hour north of LA. Old American showlines that work. Breeding since the early 70's.
