At least he's not as apple-domed and wrinkle-skinned as some of the Chinese ones I've seen... Sick

No this is not just a China thing that dogs with the Noble and Regal head is not bred for.

Ten years ago when at a Seiger Show I heard US breeders at the show asking the German breeders and trainers to find them dogs with these big heads. It has become very common since then.

These blocky type heads can also be found in the Working lines as well.

It's all excess skin. Pull the skin back and its normal muzzle and skull. The excess skin gives allusion of a heavy muzzle and heavy skull, the dog pictured even has a skin fold between eye and ear. Also very heavy dewlap is evident....none of this complies with the breed standard as the gsd is supposed to be be dry without the heavy flews or corner of the mouth hanging in folds, etc.

[likes Joan's post!!!]

I wish the SV would start penalizing these overdone heads!1 They are SO against the standard! But people seem to LIKE them.... :( :(

Looks like a mastiff cross to me. They even have to post the ears because they are too heavy to stand naturally. I'm not even a shepherd enthusiast and i think this dog is a hot mess. Lets see it run 12 miles?
