Personally I think it's a good idea to try to help novices get a good start with breeding dogs and doing that in a nice way. Some of the responses on this forum should give everyone a clear look at why many no longer post here. The showline people have literally dropped to almost zero because they can't even have a decent discussion about their dogs ON THE SHOW FORUM without being interrupted with smart remarks about their dogs and their shortcomings. Very sad indeed.

It was a general statement not directed at this OP.

In fact, I saw support for going with SL or working lines. What's with the constant, out of place complaining about SL people being victimized? I was told by a former SL judge that he could understand why I don't want to post pictures of my WL dogs and he says WL dogs keep getting uglier....you didn't see me on here complaining about people knocking WL dogs, I just told him that's his and anyone's' else prerogative to hate WL. I don't care what he or anyone else thinks of them...I wouldn't waste my time worrying about it.
Breeders on here get bashed on a regular basis. But if they happen to be byb/puppy mills, well, that's OK.
Have good day, every body. The heat wave finally broke here, so I'm enjoying the weather...winter is around the corner.

SL people do not usually post here anymore, Joan, that's an undeniable fact. The forum today is pretty much dominated by WL people, another undeniable fact. Why?

"What's with the constant, out of place complaining about SL people being victimized?"
You absolutely have to be kidding, right? It has been discussed and proven over and over that WL people (for the most part) can't stay out of the show line threads with their constant, arrogance and that know best attitude, honestly it falls back to don't worry about what I do do what you do the best you can and don't worry about things you cannot or never will be able to control. I have personally seen set up threads that did exactly what they intended to do which is show over and over how one group derails, interjects and tramples on show line threads.

Spot on, Mick . SL people are called apologists because they prefer showline dogs.

Fact is, not many people come on here anymore. Period. Why's that?
Which reasons you want? The ones you support or all the rest? There are many many reasons people do not participate in the forums but get one thing straight, they still come here. Whether logged in or not they are still here.

I don't really know why the thred has taken this turn; nobody - least of all me - has criticised the idea that a bitch who
is 3/4 SL could be mated with either SL or WL stud(s). What HAS been criticised is the OP saying they have all this
knowledge and experience of GSDs and then showing they don't; planning to breed without understanding, of their
own dog or other people's males, or what outcome they are looking for.
If the OP knew what results were needed from the litter-to-be, they would already know whether they wanted to take
her to a dog with great working drive, higher activity levels, a more combative temperament, yada yada yada - in
which case they would ask for opinions on available mainly WL studs; if however they were aiming for physically
attractive dogs with show points, and somewhat less competitive attributes (in the sporting sense) and perhaps
calmer more sociable natures, equally the OP would already be aware of the need to look for a SL stud; and again
would be asking for info. about studs from that "side of the fence/breed". Instead of: "Help! I don't know if I want a
SL or WL stud, which should I choose ?"
And no word - or apparently thought - of what constitutes a basically good, healthy GSD whichever its ancestry.
If people like Nan, Q-man, Keith and I jump on that, it is because there are way too many people who will
take the same attitude - as Mick says, it is their 'right' because in America (or the UK) anything goes. Well. we
likewise have the right to tell them they are wrong, the GSD breed does not need people like that who want to
breed without thinking anything through. The OP's question would have been taken much more seriously if
it had been rephrased and come a lot later in the process !
