Looking for opinions on neutering a male early, age 6.5 months and having trouble with ears coming up? In conjunction with pup being kept in a 30" crate for up to 7 hours a day and again at night. Entire litter, ears were up by 6 months.
Thank you.

Jeez, my ears would be drooping too, if I was shut in a crate for that many hours!! Why do these people even HAVE a dog??
Okay, seriously I doubt there's a connection between the ears and the crate, unless the crate is too small for him to sit up without the ears touching the roof.
Recommend lots of things to chew on to strengthen muscles. Also recommend the owner look into doggy daycare or a dog-walking service so the dog gets more stimulation, and gets to be a DOG for part of the day.
Poor critter!

I disagree. Ears come up faster when the dogs has more stimulation. I had a really lazy pup one time, almost dull, and his ears took forever, whereas his more alert, more mischievous siblings' ears were up months before his. My mentor took back a dog with soft ears who lived in a condo with a disabled person, never seeing light, never getting to be a dog and explore the world. Within 2 weeks in my mentor's outdoor, large kennel, the ears were up. Chewing raw, meaty bones also exercises the structures that help raise ears, as well as providing critical nutrition for teething and cartilage strengthening.
With being neutered at 6 mos, ears are the least of this poor dog's problems.

Jen I agree with everything you stated.
"Ears come up faster when the dogs has more stimulation". I've seen this time and time again
If this dog spends that much time in the crate and the owners can't afford to pay a dog walker or doggie daycare, I would suggest at minimum he gets a nice large kennel outside to be in the fresh air and sunshine. Maybe even a varsity ball and some large raw beef bones to chew on.
