Ulko not Ulk.

Litter brothers;  that' s it.

Much of the breeding info about these brothers' ancestry will obviously be

duplicated;  but on Ulko himself:  there was controversy because at both the

USA Seiger and in Denmark during 2006, he appeared to be aggressive.   He

forfeited a VA1 for the Danish show.  Whether this was about the dog being

moved around a lot (Germany, Denmark, the States) and/or the abilities of people

handling him in the shows  seems to be a moot point.  General concensus

was whatever the reason(s) he was a bit too 'drivey' for your average Showdog.Wink Smile

IMO very nice S/L breeding, for conformation, at least.

Quite a lot of K.Ulk's descendents here in the UK.

Out of Ghandi both males inherited his temperament, and they were able to pass it on to some of their progeny.
I really love the "typical" Ghandi sons ( owned one myself - he was strong, serious, not everybodys buddy - my kind of dog Teeth Smile).

We are talking about a working dog breed - and a over-average percentage of dogs out of these showline males are able and willing to work.
Not that bad ...

Temperament issues? This depends on everybodys own interpretation of correct temperament....

So, how did Ulko appear to be aggressive at that show? What in particular did he do? Why did he forfeit the VA? Was it because he did appear to be aggressive? I'm sorry for all the questions, but I'm learning all I can about the German show bloodlines.

Kies, as far as I remember he was handler aggressive in Denmark. Why? I don´t know, but a lot of Ghandi sons are simply strong dogs, no pets.
He is still VA rated ( 2004 ) - he "only" lost the 2005 VA rating.
When he was sold to the States, he didn´t heel, plain and simple.
But why do you want to know?
Although it´s interesting to know about dogs of the past, it´s more important to know about dogs of the present.
And you only are able to learn about present dogs, when you are willing to participate in clubs - there are the dogs.

I really wonder, because you started several threads right now.
You bred your female, and you ask about her conformation and pedigree?!?
Now you ask about Ulko - your next stud?

To answer your questions: Your female is out of mostly Czech working lines, her conformation is okay ( either G or SG on a SV show in case hips, elbows, size, teeth are okay), but you don´t seem to be interested in SV. AKC or UKC - I don´t know, but in case your female is older than 2 years she has to be titled for a SV show result.

You talked about an "update" of your dog - I wasn´t able to find any earlier posts (kiesgsd ). Did you change your name?

Kind regards ( not being mean, only wondering )

I would be interested in SV style showing. I may be getting a female with Karat's Ulko as her grandfather. I was wanting to learn as much as possible about her sire's side because I know a good bit about her dam's side. Her sire is Ecko Unterholz if that helps any. I'm definitely planning on getting out to as much shows as possible this year and learning about today's dogs, but I'd love to know as much as possible about the dogs of the past, too. You can get an idea of where certain traits come from that way.

You shouldn´t get out "to as much shows as possible" but join a club. The German Shepherd dog is a working dog breed. There are more than enough backyard breeders out there. Working ability + conformation = breedworthy, nothing else.
