Hi Synthian and welcome on board. Someone will answer your question surely, meanwhile if you can post a picture that shows the problem it would help you get replies, good luck

Also, what are you feeding the dog? What is the climate like where you live? The changes of season can affect the coat, that's why I am asking.

Go here http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/forum.html?f=tutorials for instructions on posting pictures. It's a bit complicated on this particular board!

You may be describing very normal coat development for some dogs.  Photos would help.

Agree with Jenni78, your dog is - @ 8 mths - still quite young, he may

not yet have his full adult coat, so things could change.  A general rule

for a dry coat is to check the quality of whatever you are feeding,  he

needs the input of some natural oils, or you can supplement:  try linseed oil

or coconut oil.  That is about the best I can suggest without seeing the pup's

picture and without knowing where you are located and what level of pet

supplies you have access to.

To the OP, using Grizzly Wild Salmon  helps greatly with the coat.I use this on my young dog and her hhair is very soft and shiny. It is easily combed as well. See her pic below.

How many dogs has the OP had? Some pups get very coarse, almost wavy fur down the spine toward the end during late puppyhood/early adulthood. In time, it changes, usually. That's why I asked for a pic.
