In a large litter any idea of the likelyhood of pups recieving the sires characterstics? I understand how important the female is but also I don't understand why so many breeders concentrate so hard on the male and not so much on the female?

Female is the basis of an individual breeder. Stud is the basis for improvement of the total breed generation, because it can mate many females and thus produce more offspring than the female.

Successful strong males (usually linebred ones) stamp their type and traits on their offspring to a good extent. Same does successful strong females. But the effect of a strong male on the population of a breed is much more, again due to big offspring when used extensively by breeders.

ok thanks

If a okay decent female (okay in my eyes amazing in others) female is bred to a amazing male (dream dog)

we get 9 pups

I wanted a pup like the male we test the litter out and pick out the best bravest hard worker which happens to be a female, is there a chance she could end up like the male more than the other? maybe the best of both worlds?

Gender linked inheritance is complex , not sure many are qualified to really answer.

Very good breeders consider a very good female to be like GOLD...They won't sell that female until they have a number of litters...then they'll sell her to move on to another good female...

Breeding is very simple...The Male offers 50% the Female offers 50%...But the female can and does offer more after the birth...

The interesting thing about Breeding is that even though the Male offers 50% and the Female 50% all the genes can and are mixed up and the distribution can be a bit of luck...

What I have found is that a Male and/or Female will offer one sex or the other that can be consistently outstanding...

Good studs are a dime a dozen and few of them pass on their good points very well.  Probably better to try to find a stud that addresses the weaknesses of the dam rather than concentrating on titles or KKL.  The vertical pedigree is your only hope for a so-so female producing any wonder dogs,  If your female has a sister, brother, aunt, uncle, sire or dam that was a great dog then there is hope for a miracle puppy.  Your female could have inherited the great genes from her bloodline but they are not switched on in her but if she passes the great genes to one of her puppies and they are switched on then you may have a winner.  A really good stud dog or female produces puppies as good or better than themselves.  The female is 60% or more of the puppies she produces when you take in her genetic contribution at conception, her in utero contribution during gestation, her contribution to post partum antibodies via her colostrum, and her mothering ability on her puppies development via feeding, licking, and the level of nutrition she provides in early puppy development.  Who's your momma is always more important than who's your daddy.
