Knighthawkranch

by Knighthawkranch on 07 January 2015 - 02:01

After waiting for over a year for this pup (seamed like FOREVER), I was finally able to pick up the little monster from the airport this afternoon.

When I saw him, I told my husband they shipped a bear cub instead of a pup.  I was surprised at how big he was.is.

This is a repeat breeding

Oh my, is he adorable!!!

I know I've said it before but I absolutely love the top of Easy's ped. I see her influence in his features as well as Bomber's (more Bomber in person than Bomber's professional photos).

With that kind of bone structure, and looking at the previous breeding which are now nearly 3 yrs old, if he were mine (and I know he's not and I also know you didn't ask, but I can't help myself sometimes, Red Smile LOL) I would be very cautious with his weight and total calcium intake to err on the side of caution.

Enjoy your long-awaited little bear cub. You two are going to have a lot of fun.

Jennie..no problem  I appreciate the advice.  I am one who tends to keep my dogs lean to begin with.

He did awesome for his first night in a strange place, asked to go out 2 x during the night and no mess in his crate.  He goes to his crate on his own when he is tired.

I so wish I could stay home from work to play with him....but gotta pay the bills.

Great looking pup!

May I ask, why you decided on a pup linebred 3-3 on Tom?  Not trying to be controversial or anything, just genuinely curious.

It happended that way.  I had been waiting on a pup by the sire with another female for a year.   The litter did not happen.  The week I found out that she was not pregnant I was referred to this breeding.  By this point it had been a year.

I also went with this breeding because it was a repeat (3x I think) and pups from each of the previous litters have earned titles.

I have been out of working dogs for about 10-12 years and dogs I had back then had Tom in them and I got along great with them.

I am out of the loop on a lot things now and having to relearn.  I joined a great club that has several very knowledgeable people and learn something everytime I go.

Well your little guy certainly has a very nice pedigree.  I definitely would not say no to such a pup.

I just don't have much experience with Tom dogs, hence my question about the 3-3 on him.

How's his play drive right now?  Does he like chasing and going for a rag?  Loves playing tug?  etc.?    I'll probably be getting another pup in 1-2 years, so I'm just doing research now ;)
