Jacob Angel

Hello,

I learned Friday afternoon that there was going to be an AKC CGC title trial on Sunday afternoon with just a ferry trip to the island my mom lives on.

I had to work all weekend and Saturday night, late, I googled AKC CGC to see what was involved.

I hadn't prepared for anything like this before, but I was pretty sure Rama could do it.

Well, long story short, after a 2.5 hour wait... we were tested and passed with flying colors!

SOOO EXCITED TO GET MY FIRST TITLE EVER!

Grats!

Great job. Was it a difficult test? What was required?

Sita, Vanna and Mattie are scheduled for this Saturday at 1:00pm

We will have to hurry because our Schutzhund practice usually ends at about 12:30 and it takes an hour to get across town to the kennel doing the test.

The week after, Sita will be trialed for BH..........

We'er so excited to finally be getting stuff done.

Just google AKC CGC test requirements. It is a series of 10 test. If you are doing Sch work, this will be a breeze for you. . It is silly stuff, like sit, stay, let the evaluator touch your dogs feet, brush him, shake hands with a stranger and their dog. Heel through distractions, etc....  At the end a stranger has to have your dog on leash for 3 minutes while you hide around a corner. Then when you re-approach the dog should be calm. Good Luck, I am sure you will be fine

CONGRATULATIONS!!!  Well done, Rama and Jacob Angel.  I love the photograph, you both are so happy!  Are you going to continue on with training for other AKC titles?

Thanks a bunch everyone!

TessJ10, funny but I hadn't really trained for that one! I just have a really great relationship with Rama and he is just such an amazing dog that it was a breeze. To answer your question though, YES! I can't wait. I want to get every, and any title that Rama can get, as he is having so much fun learning.  What's next?  I know for sure I want to get him a Therapy certificate. He went with me to the old folks home with me once a week from 20 weeks old when I got him last spring until just recently. He would make a great therapy dog, he is so gentle natured.

Thanks again,
Jacob and Rama

Jacob that is so cool, it is very true when you have an amazing dog that you work with well. It is almost like they can read you as much as you can read them. With this type of relationship there is no limit to what you both can do. Happy training!
Always,
Cee

Congratulations!
That is just the beginning, I try & get a CGC on all my dogs, also I like to do the Temperament test, that comes around to my area every other year, and your dog has to be a minimum of 18 months old, you don't need to do much to prepare for the temp. test, you just need your dog to already be used to different people, sounds, and show some confidence!
www.atts.org

Or you can Temp. test through the AKC
