Do numbers indicate the success? Has the model changed? I think to accurately assess you have to look big picture. On the surface only a hundred dogs in the ring where there used to be 4 rings?? It's all going down the tubes!
Maybe not. Look at what you have. Working male class, 260+/- dogs entered. Some didn't show up, some didn't pass the bitework, some were able to be pulled by paying the fee for EZ rather than show. It's a new option where your dog that was second ring you thought would be first, doesn't need to be shown. From a money perspective, the SV gets the entry fee and they get the EZ fee. Bottom line the way things are done have changed and you can't do a direct comparison between old and new.
Add to that the longcoat classes which seem to be growing each year and the Worldwide SV Media takes the place of some local ticket sales. The logistics may have changed but there's a good chance the venue is healthy.

I'm thinking it has more to do with the world wide recession.
