Hello everyone. I have searched the forums and not found what I'm looking for. Maybe I'm not using the correct key words? Anyhow, if this question has come up before, my apologies in advance. I have a nice WL with West and some East lines. I've been looking for the "perfect" male for her that hopefully give me a pup or 2 with the same drives/qualities that I so enjoy with my girl. I already have people lined up wanting her pups, if they are similar to her and then some that want some that might be just a bit less than her. (More pet quality). I've been told to stick with similar pedigrees 3 or 4 and then I've heard to get away from any of the same lines. I'm not looking to do this until next summer, so I have plenty of time to do many more hours of research and I want to have at a minimum a IPO 1 on her. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks!
PS I plan on having just one litter unless the pups are really nice. I just want to have a BHOT.

I´m not able to help you in finding the best stud, but your goals are great - go for it!

Lets try and keep this thread on the down low okay??? My wife tends to get on this site and if she reads some good, informative comments she might realize that she did not "...Pick the right male"

Thanks, Susie. Lol Cutaway. I guess if I put stud it might be worse?

Batgirl are looking to find an older male or starting with a male pup,my own thoughts are you are much better off to use someones stud of extreme high quality, something proven and known to produce high quality working dogs,in my veiw it will improve your chances of success 100 fold, you might say what state you are in for thoughs that can rec a top stud in your area, granted some kennels or breeders can be very hard to work with and they might make you jump through hoops to get your female bred but there are others very helpful in the goals you have,I,ve seen stud prices all over the place, some seem hard to find under 500 for anything of much quality, normal range seems to be closer in the 750 to 1200 range and some might be pressing the envolope even higher than that, not sure whats normal range in Europe. Some of the studs I like are Dargo vom Patriot, the Quardes stud, the Rush stud ( his common name),Nick del Lupo Nero,Pike del Lupo Nero, but Pike and a stud named Hoky are in Europe, also a few of studs out of the Bleuhaus kennel and a few others, but everyone will have their favorites depending on what type of drives or nerves your wanting, dont forget even with great studs its a no sure thing of the best results but always put the odds in your favor as much as possible.

I'm in the East Texas area. I'm looking for a proven male with solid nerves. I'm willing to pay the cost and hopefully can do AI, if too far away. Sorry I didn't make that clear. I have inquired abour 4 different dogs, and each owner has said yes, but I'm not sure what I need to look for. Do I need to stay primarily with West lines? My experience with East lines is limited, but it may be just the dogs I have seen, but I was not impressed. I really have seen some nice Czech dogs, but do people cross them with West often? Do they have good results?

YR will prob give you some good males in your area that I do not know about, I am a big line breeding fan and I feel it can improve your chances of sucess and yes you can have some great sucess in mixing WEST german lines with CZECH lines, but if your female is now solid west german lines I would stick with that and your choices to find more males of west influence will improve,I dont know your females ped but I would go with Drago he is fairly close to you or go with Nick in Ohio or perhaps Quardes in Minn,if your female has a super strong line of a certain line bred female I would put that in consideration also on which stud you like if he carries such in his own ped, in other words seek out strong producing female lines and stick with them whenever possible. I talked with someone the other day that felt the strengh of the Del lupo Nero dogs are coming more from the Sire side of things the Irko dog if i remember correctly but I like the Gesha female and reallly like the Alexia dam of Drago also so whos to say where the better influence in being generated from.

I have not seen your girl's pedigree, so I'm just telling you of one I know who I have accomplished what I wanted with, as what you're asking for sounds similar to what I was trying for.
I have bred an almost all West girl to this male, as well as her daughter, who is 1/2 East. Both times, I was beyond satisfied with not only temperament, but structure. I was looking to keep the drive and super stable temperament but not ADD drive (prey drive in particular) to my girls. My foundation female is pretty intense and when bred to something very similar, pups can push the upper limits. I wanted to calm them down without watering them down. I'd rather have to turn them on than turn them off.
Anyway, I am picky, so type is important to me, too. Coyotes need not apply. This boy is is the single most impressive male I have ever seen in person next to my male in my avatar who I lost. When I first saw him, I thought he was nice, but having JUST lost my male, he didn't "wow" me because that head and bone type just seemed normal. Well, 2 years went by and I saw him again when I decided to breed the daughter and WOW...that's a nice male when you haven't seen one in a while. Killer structure, great bone, head like a buffalo, unflappable temperament. I have gotten IPO dogs and service dogs and some of them were rolled into one dog ;)
I have these pups on the ground now, 14 weeks old and am VERY impressed with the temperament. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=2217416-fury-vom-eisenherz . This is the litter with her mother: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=1844085-dolce-vom-eisenherz Hopefully this will help you look at my lines and see if you think yours would be similar. Owner of male is very experienced and can likely tell you whether he'd be a good match or not. Another thing I like...he's not a young dog. He's healthy and GORGEOUS and doesn't look a day over 5. Yet another thing I like; he's a house dog. A real, honest-to-goodness pet as well as working dog. He's someone's best friend.
