marjorie

Got an email today from someone who begged me to help them get an abused dog out of its situation.  I found someone, just now, after networking all day, I know and trust to take him. Poor dog was locked in his crate, never to come out, once the family had a baby. Since they never let him out of his crate, he messed the crate and the owner took the dog, IN HIS CRATE, and THREW the crate outside with the dog still in it! OMG! WTF is wrong with people???? As if that wasnt bad enough, once outside, the owner beat the living crap out of him.  My contact thinks she can get the people to give up the dog, but its not set in stone, so the first step was to find someone trustworthy to take him. With all the abuse, he is still as sweet and loving as he could be. Please, if you have a moment, say a prayer they will give him up. Its around 2 am, and luckily the last person I contacted was still up, and they didnt hesitate to say they would take him.. now its a matter of getting him out of the hell hole he is living in :(

The rescue who will take him has even offered to transport- now its a matter of getting the subhuman to give him up.  I cant help but wonder who he will beat, once his dog is gone. Will he turn on his wife? His baby?  People with uncontrollable tempers like that are a threat, not only to their dogs, but the people around them!

:(

I am still waiting to hear if the family will give the dog up... My heart is in my stomach, waiting to hear..

I'm assuming the abuse was reported to the authorities?

It will be once the dog is out of there. We need to tread carefully until he is safe. I once tried to get my neighbor's dog removed from them because they abused her. It ook over 6 months for the authorities to act. They need proof and word of mouth is not enough. Laws need to change, regarding this. It is legal to leave a dog outside, in all weather, as long as it has food and water. Proving the dog has no food or water is difficult, since its very easy for the people to say that the dog had food and he ate it, and drank his water. Been there/done that! My neighbor penned his dog in with a board with nails protruding down, so if Fanny tried to get out she would rip her paws open. The people would then duct tape her feet, and that was their *medical treatment! AC came and did nothing, even though they saw it..  It was litertally 6 months of hounding them, before they were able to get them on a techicality. Fanny was living in a 5 foot wide area, in her own poop. The people were so nutty, they tried to kill me by cutting the line on my outdoor BBQ hose, but of course I couldnt prove they did it. The BBQ people told me the hose had been cut- the break in the line was not from an animal chewing on the hose :(They harassed me daily, until I had it with them- I sued them, and settled out of court, with the caveat, they  had to move, which they did. I donated the money to charity...

Marjorie, your stories make my neighbors seem like angels from heaven!  Whenever we have had to call the authorities because of our neighbors' treatment of their animals, the police have always acted very quickly and none of the situations were even close to being as bad as yours!  Please keep us updated on this poor dog.

Those neighbors were seriously NUTS! There was one hilarious story, though, with their harassment. They reported our fence as being too tall. Only problem was- it was THEIR fence!!! The jerky husband hadalso  torn up the town sidewalk to make their property look bigger- he planted grass where  the sidewalk used to be. Thats a HUGE no-no, so when the town came down to look at the fence, and I could show on the survey it was HIS fence, not only did they get a summons for the fence, but they got a $5000 fine for ripping up the sidewalk!!! OMG- LMAO!!!! That goes under the category "Yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus" ;)

Ugh- just spoke to my friend in the rescue who is supposed to take this dog. He spoke with them and made arrangements to meet them halfway- they were supposed to call him back to let him know what time... They never called and arent answering the phone, so far :( If I was in that state I would have their ass in a sling, but its a different state. This dog cannot continue to live like this.. I dont get it- I would have sold my soul to the devil for ONE more day with Missie T, and this poor dog is unloved, unwanted and abused :( Thats NOT a life and it is NOT ok... :(

Wow- northern maiden, that must be nice to be able to depend upon the police. Here, the police dont get involved in animal issues- just the AC and their rules are way too lax!  AC did nothing, here, until the police told me I could get them on a technicality barking violation. That was the only way we could finally get Fannie away from those sicko neighbors. I used to sneak out at 1 a.m and feed her through the fence- she, like this other abused dog, was so sweet- no matter what they did to her, she never turned nasty..Fannie lived out her life sleeping on the vet's little boy's bed, every night. It was a happy ending, and I am a real sucker for those :) I can only hope and pray that the neighbors will step up, for the boy that needs help, and do the right thing, or the people will return the call to the rescue... The rescue would even go the whole way, but the people didnt want that... I guess now we know why...
