Was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem and if so, how everything turned out and is it normal for some females (as i have never had this b4)

My female G.S. is now 44 days pregnant . I noticed earlier, she was dripping Brown Blood with no odor  (looked like iodine ) She is acting eating and drinking normal and now only a small bit is seen,if I wipe her (sometimes there is nothing at all) I contacted my mentor and she says it is rare, but she had this happen with her female once and vet said it can happen sometimes and nothing to worry about (just old blood, that built up) She is 3 years old and this would be her second litter. her temp is 100.1 and no sighs of stress and/or discomfort.

She is most likely losing or re-absorbing one of the puppies. Please keep a VERY close eye on her temp!

I don't want to scare you, but with my friend's bitch, this was the first warning sign of a serious infection in her uterus, that ended with her losing the entire litter and having to be spayed.

THIS MAY NOT HAPPEN TO YOUR DOG, BUT it IS a possibility, and she needs to be very closely monitored!

Get her to a vet that specializes in animal reproduction. She may need an ultrasound or other tests to see what is going on. My friend's dog had to go to the veterinary college at Guelph University.

One of mine bled all through her pregnancy, put her on antibiotics as a precaution, but she had 9 healthy pups.

This happens when embryos that could not implant are being absorbed.I have had two females do this with out issue. But keep a eye on her.

Yes, I have been keeping her very close to me (didn't sleep well), as i kept checking on her! She is no-longer bleeding at all and giving her 500 mg of Amox. to be on the safe side (incase of there being an infection) Her temp is holding at 100.1 and she is still eating and drinking as normal. Not acting stressed in anyway. I will be looking into a vet that deals in reproduction. Thank you all  for the info!

Most vets don't know much, but they will start doing all kinds of tests on her, and giving you bunch of medication you don't need. She IS absorbing/aborting a puppy or two...hopefully she will have the rest, all depends how big she is. If she has a small belly, you might loose all :( . Be positive, keep her calm and I would use Ciprofloxacin instead, as a broader spectrum. Give her some probiotics, yoghurt . Good luck,

i have been giving her yogurt the last few weeks and started giving her colostrum last night (actually better than probiotics) She still has a med. size pregnancy bump (about rite for 6 wks) we also give her two eggs a day and fresh broccoli (she loves fresh fruit and vej.)  She seems happy and comfortable. No bleeding at all today!!! :)
